Description

The rebuilt Driger that Ray fights with once the white tiger returns to him after Dunga's sealing. Kenny's new weight disk and a heavier, sharper ring make it steadier than Driger V, and it is the blade Ray uses in the V-Force World Championship tag matches and carries into G-Revolution until Driger G is ready. The compiled episode files first name it in G-Revolution episode 3, when Ray faces Jin of the Gale, so its exact V-Force debut is left open here.

Succeeding the A-53 Driger V, Driger V2 became Ray Kon's signature top through the remainder of "Beyblade: V-Force" before his next upgrade, and it turns up in the manga and several video games alongside the anime. Its Upper Claw ring is meant to work with a matching Upper Attack support part for lifting opponents, and its Custom Metal Change Base carries a mode-switching tip that responds to the angle of the launch. On its own the combination is unremarkable, but community testing treats it as an approachable, versatile starter build rather than a top-tier one.

Parts in detail

Combo pairing the Upper Claw Attack Ring, Ten Balance Weight Disk, Neo Right SG (Metal Weight Version), Upper Attack Support Parts, and Customize Metal Change Base (CMCB) — widely regarded as the strongest stock (uncustomized) Beyblade of the plastic generation. Related release: Driger V2 (Hasbro Magnacore Version).

SlotPartWeightSpinNote
Attack Ring Upper Claw 5.0 (Mold 1) / 5.5 (Mold 2) g Right (its parts' chemistry is Right-Spin only); Left not viable In Right Spin it delivers strong Upper Attack and Upward Smash from its slope transitions, plus powerful Smash Attack from its well-angled slope tips and mane spikes, similar in kind to its successor Triple Tiger; its overhanging shape also compensates for taller bases. Its round-sided slopes and edge-focused weight spread make it viable for Spin-Stealing Attack too, though Right-Spin Spin-Stealing is a niche archetype with few relevant opponents. In Left Spin its forehead spikes offer negligible Smash relative to severe recoil, and its inverted slopes cause destabilizing vertical recoil rather than useful Force Smash — not worthwhile in that direction. Its main value comes from chemistry with Driger V2's own Support Parts and Blade Base rather than standalone use.
Weight Disk Ten Balance 15.0 g Well-weighted, compact edge-focused spread giving good all-around RPM retention and survival.
Spin Gear Metal Weight Core (Spin Gear Core) 2.5 g Slightly lighter than the Magnecores, which limits its usefulness for a clear niche among Attack types, though it performs solidly in general with only a marginal gap to better options.
Support Part Upper Attack 1.78 each (Mold 1) / 1.86 each (Mold 2) g Extends Upper Claw's slopes to allow Upper Attack from a very low starting height across a wide vertical range; the heaviest Support Parts in the game (over half a gram heavier per pair than the next-heaviest option), meaningfully contributing to Driger V2's overall weight and distribution. The only Support Parts that meaningfully help Attack builds, though almost exclusively as part of Driger V2 itself; on other combinations they can look effective in isolated go-second testing without holding up in real 1-on-1 matches. Legally can't be used inverted, since doing so bends the Attack Ring and leaves them sitting improperly even where they physically fit under some Heavy weight disks.
Blade Base Customize Metal Change Base (CMCB) 6.4 g Its Metal Change tip is somewhat sharper than the one on the standalone Metal Change Base, making it a little easier to control but slightly less offensively effective — arguably a lesser implementation of the Change tip concept in isolation. It catches the tornado ridge well and is versatile enough for Driger V2 combos, Compacts, and Weight Based Defense. Surprisingly heavy for its size and Support-Part compatibility, putting it near SG Metal Ball Base's weight and enabling genuine Weight Based Defense use, where its Change tip lets it sit passively or attack as needed while holding up well when not in contact. In Compacts specifically, the plain Metal Change Base is more maneuverable and offensively flexible, while CMCB's extra weight suits more defense-leaning Compact builds, blurring into Weight Based Defense territory.

Weights are single copies weighed on their own; a part can vary by a few tenths of a gram.

In play and in the story

Competitive players rate Driger V2 as a solid but not essential build: the Upper Claw ring underperforms alone and needs pairing with Upper Attack SP to get under opponents effectively, at which point the combination becomes a genuinely strong Upper Attack setup, especially over a fast Blade Base such as Customize Grip Base with a Heavy Metal Core.

  • A Fukubako Box 2003 red variant was released as an alternate version of the top.

Community testing, 2012-01-16 — summarised

The competitive view

A 5-Layer/Magnacore Beyblade whose strength comes from the synergy between its Upper Claw attack ring and matching Upper Attack support part: paired together their slopes line up to double the effective lifting length and start lower than any attack ring alone, making it an unusually strong Upper Attack platform.

Upper Claw alone is outclassed by other Upper Attack rings due to obstruction from its tiger heads and right-spin-only effectiveness, but combined with Upper Attack SP it becomes a top Upper Attack setup capable of lifting even low opponents on fast bases; Customize Change Base offers less aggressive movement than its predecessor Metal Change Base but supports Support Parts (notably Voltaic Ape's compact Defense Ring) at the cost of extra height, and a rare sharp-tip mold trades all attack ability for better RPM retention in defensive compacts.

Verdict as the draft gives it: The article frames the Beyblade's part synergy as the entire reason it performs well, positioning it as a top-tier Upper Attack combination when built correctly.

  • AR Upper Claw weight: 7 grams
  • SP Upper Attack SP weight: 4 grams
  • BB Customize Change Base weight: 7 grams (2 grams heavier than its predecessor Metal Change Base)
  • Two AR/SP molds exist; later ones (all Hasbro units plus later Takara units including the Red Recolour) are reinforced against breakage and are generally preferred; a rare fully-sharp-tipped base mold also exists; the reinforced mold is roughly 1mm taller at the wing-slope and head bases
  • Hasbro version has darker decals
