Description

The Engine Gear Driger that Ray builds while training with the White Tigers in China. Its engine gives Ray a burst of speed to close distance, and its claw attacks now land in rapid succession, a style that finally beats Tyson when Ray and Lee take the first-round tag battle. Driger G is the blade of Ray's best season: the win over Miguel, the long-awaited duel with Kai, and the bloody Justice 5 stand against Crusher's Gigars, which ends with Ray collapsing after fighting to a standstill.

Ray Kon's fifth Beyblade, properly named Driger Gatling, follows A-75 Driger V2 and appears across the Beyblade: G-Revolution anime, the manga and assorted video games before he trades up to a newer top. Its Engine Gear System build pairs the G-version Driger Bit Chip with the Triple Tiger Attack Ring, the Ten Balance Weight Disk, a Right Engine Gear and the First Clutch Blade Base, using a Type 1 Engine Gear to deliver a short burst of extra speed the moment it lands after launch. Hasbro also produced a black, radio-controlled Customize Engine Gear version with a boost button, and Takara Tomy issued gold, silver and bronze tournament-prize finishes.

Parts in detail

Pairs the strong Triple Tiger Attack Ring with Ten Balance, Right Engine Gear (Metal Semi-Flat), and First Clutch Base (Driger G Version). Related releases: Driger G (Hasbro Metallic Black Ver.) and Driger G (Hasbro Engine Gear RC).

SlotPartWeightSpinNote
Attack Ring Triple Tiger 6.3 g Left & Right (strong in both, different roles) In Right Spin its contact points align with the beyblade's own rotation, channeling nearly all its force into each hit for strong Smash Attack (recoil comparable to Triple Wing's), plus decent Upper Attack/Upward Smash; its overhanging shape lets it compensate for tall bases like Customize Grip Base or Defense Grip Base's attack mode, at the cost of being generally ineffective against Circle Survivor Defense. It tends to reward speed over sheer weight, making it one of the rare Attack Rings where Wide Survivor may edge out Wide Defense. In Left Spin its thick, pointed rear edges deliver very strong but highly recoil-prone Smash Attack, classifying it as a Hyper Aggressive part needing strong recoil control, and it can struggle a bit against shorter opponents due to its sloped underside.
Weight Disk Ten Balance 15.0 g Well-weighted, compact edge-focused spread giving good all-around RPM retention and survival.
Spin Gear Right Engine Gear (Metal Semi-Flat) 11.0 g Right Functions more like a small flat tip than true semi-flat since its edges aren't beveled, giving only moderately aggressive movement; outclassed on offense by Right Engine Gear (Metal Flat).
Blade Base First Clutch Base (Driger G Version) 7.3 g Its clutch triggers at the start of battle; because the beyblade still resists the resulting destabilization at that point, it's less self-destructive than a Final Clutch base, though it can still break flower pattern or occasionally self-KO. Lacking recoil-adding protrusions, it also can't use its own height to compensate offensively, and its LAD is acceptable for the category but unremarkable.

Weights are single copies weighed on their own; a part can vary by a few tenths of a gram.

In play and in the story

  • Released by Hasbro in a Customize Engine Gear black version with a matching Right Customize Engine Gear and Metal Semi-Flat Customize Engine Weight.
  • Awarded as a tournament prize in gold, silver and bronze finishes.

Community testing, Nov. 22, 2010 — summarised

The competitive view

BeyPhilosopher's first attempt credits a three-pronged attack ring with strong smash and upper-attack power despite carrying more recoil than its two closest rivals, and pairs it with a low, control-focused blade base and a heavy core for a compact upper-attack build; th!nk spends a full day trimming and reformatting the piece, cutting around twenty commas and standardizing the infobox and section headers, while Benjohadi's earlier attempt covers the same attack ring with a slightly different description of its head shapes and contact points.
