Description

The strongest bit-beast drawn from the ancient rock, handed to Zeo by his father with orders to take the four sacred beasts. Cerberus needs forty-two attempts to summon and then proves overwhelming: it swallows Dranzer from Kai and Draciel from Max in the World Championship. The final against Tyson's Dragoon V2 is the climax of V-Force, and Zeo's loss, followed by his acceptance of what he is, returns the stolen bit-beasts and ends the season on forgiveness rather than victory.

Known in Japan as Burning Kerberous, this Stamina Type Magnacore System top was released by Takara in October 2002 and by Hasbro as 'Howling Spirit' in the BBA Championship Series; in the Beyblade Rising manga it is succeeded by Shine Kerberous, and in Beyblade V-Force - Super Tournament Battle it is used by DJ Jazzman as an Original Custom.

Part by part

Parts in detail

A standalone V2-era release; the part evaluations on the source page assume Shielded Metal Ball Bearings are fitted in every bearing-compatible position.

SlotPartWeightSpinNote
Attack Ring Triple Attacker 5.8 g Right and Left Offers three distinct attack styles (Smash/Force Smash, Upper, and Spike) across its wings in Right Spin, but sharpened contact points create a less focused, more recoil-heavy hit than similarly angled rings like Triple Wing; Left Spin gives a smaller but well-angled and surprisingly viable Smash Attack option.
Weight Disk Ten Wide 14.0 (Takara/Hasbro) / 14.3 (SonoKong G-Blade) g A moderately light disk with an outward weight distribution, less pronounced than Wide Defense/Wide Survivor; its recoil limits spin-stealing and survival use, but it remains strong for Smash Attack, especially with rings that Wide Defense would obstruct.
Spin Gear Neo Right Spin Gear (Double Bearing Version) with Double Bearing Core and Neo SG (Double Bearing Version) Shaft shells 1.15 each (2.3 total); casings 0.79 each (1.58 total) plus two bearings; shaft 1.1 g Right The dual-bearing core adds a defensive edge when paired with SG (Bearing Version 2) Shaft, and its own dedicated shaft is widely considered the most practical standard Zombie shaft thanks to good stability against Circle Survivor Defense, though its wide tip trades some pure stamina for that extra stability and mild offense.
Support Part Cross Attack 0.79 g Its large triangular protrusions look imposing but suffer high recoil, poor Life After Death, and negligible attack power, making it the least useful of Takara's limited Support Part lineup.
Blade Base Customize Bearing Base 4.2 g Offers good stamina and Life After Death with a Defense Ring Sub Ring, though Defense Grip Base 2 often matches or beats it and Customize Grip Base offers even better Life After Death at the cost of being more scrape-prone on lower setups.

Weights are single copies weighed on their own; a part can vary by a few tenths of a gram.

In play and in the story

Its Customize Bearing Base and double-bearing Spin Gear give it genuinely strong, competitive durability, though the Triple Attacker Attack Ring and Cross Attack Support Part are only middling for offense, outclassed by parts like Fin Tector; overall it is considered a must-have piece for serious players.

  • Released as a Booster in Japan in October 2002.
  • Released by Hasbro as Howling Spirit in the BBA Championship Series toyline, likely renamed over a U.S. trademark issue with 'Cerberus' at the time.
  • A Black Version recolor was also released.
