Description

The most complete of Psykick's man-made bit-beasts, grown from data stolen from Dragoon and given to Kane, Tyson's friendly rival from a neighbourhood team. Cyber Dragoon copies the real thing's wind attacks and initially outmuscles Dragoon V, but the creature has no bond with its blader and gradually takes control of Kane's mind. The three-episode fight ends with Tyson freeing Kane by beating the cyber beast, the moral of the whole Psykick arc in one battle.

Cyber Dragoon is a Balance-type Magnacore System top and the "Cyber" counterpart of Dragoon, used by the character Kane in Beyblade V-Force. Alone among the four Cyber tops it was actually released as a toy, in a spring-loaded jumping variant plus Battle SPEC and Pearl recolors, refining the earlier Trygle top's jump mechanism with a wider, magnet-equipped base.

Parts in detail

A standalone release; a Coro-Coro exclusive recolor exists as Cyber Dragoon Battle Spec.

SlotPartWeightSpinNote
Attack Ring Cybernetic Dragon 5.3 g Right and Left A large, aggressive ring that generates immense rotational recoil in both directions — enough to bend itself backward over the Spin Gear — and while it's fairly powerful, especially in Right Spin with a Heavy Metal Core, the recoil keeps it just short of truly competitive.
Weight Disk Ten Wide 14.0 (Takara/Hasbro) / 14.3 (SonoKong G-Blade) g A moderately light disk with an outward weight distribution, less pronounced than Wide Defense/Wide Survivor; its recoil limits spin-stealing and survival use, but it remains strong for Smash Attack, especially with rings that Wide Defense would obstruct.
Spin Gear Right Spin Gear (MG Spring Version) with SG (MG Spring Version) core shells 1.1 each; Metal Weight Gear 1.12; core 3.8 g Right A gimmick core with poor balance that only worsens when its jump mechanism triggers, though its shaft is specifically required for Jumping Base 2 to work correctly since it can extend where the older SG (Spring Version) cannot.
Blade Base Jumping Base 2 6.8 g The combination of a jump-when-hit gimmick and a wide scraping ring initially looks like a recipe for failure, but a specific pairing with Hasbro's Flying Defense and SG (MG Spring Version) turns the free-spinning dish into a surprisingly effective grinding, Force-Smash-style mechanism.

Weights are single copies weighed on their own; a part can vary by a few tenths of a gram.

In play and in the story

It is described as an overall improvement on Trygle, more secure and less prone to erratic jumping thanks to its wider base, and its magnet base adds versatility; but it remains vulnerable to fast high-speed attackers, can scrape a too-concave stadium's sides, and can even be turned against itself by magnetic Beyblades like Flash Leopard 2, which can out-endure it from a fixed spot. It is ultimately outclassed by the later Engine Gear series.

  • Used by Kane in the Beyblade V-Force anime/manga.
  • The only one of the four Cyber Beyblades ever released as a toy.
  • Also issued in a Battle SPEC recolor using the SG Wing Base and a pearlescent white Pearl Ver. recolor.
  • Was a finalist among 15 tops shortlisted in an August 2023 fan poll for the Beyblade X X-Over Project.

Community testing, Apr. 03, 2012 — summarised

The competitive view

The MG-System plastic-era Attack starter Cyber Dragoon has a Cybernetic Dragon Attack Ring, Ten Wide weight disk, and SG Jumping Base 2 blade base with a magnet-triggered jumping gimmick. The part has no real competitive value despite an old OHKO reputation.
