Description

Ray's second blade, assembled after the team's wilderness training and carried through the American, European and Russian legs of the first season. The Fang attack ring lets Ray trade blows more directly, and it is the blade of the Gatling Claw, a multi-strike barrage. Driger F's defining moment is the brutal semifinal against Bryan's Falborg, where Ray keeps blading through wind attacks that cut him physically and wins the point that keeps the Bladebreakers in the World Championship final.

The second top in the Driger line after #35 Driger S, Driger F carries Ray Kon as its signature Beyblade across the Beyblade and Beyblade: V-Force anime and the manga before he moves on to a stronger model. Its Spin Gear System build combines the F-version Driger Bit Chip, the Cross Fang Attack Ring, the Eight Balance Weight Disk and a free-spinning Right Spin Gear paired with the Full Auto Clutch Blade Base, a design meant to shift performance mid-battle without disassembly. Takara issued clear yellow and clear purple recolours, and both Takara Tomy and Hasbro later revived the name as a Burst System release.

Parts in detail

Combo built around the thin Cross Fang Attack Ring, Eight Balance Weight Disk, and the versatile SG (Full Auto Clutch Version) Shaft paired with Full Auto Clutch Base.

SlotPartWeightSpinNote
Attack Ring Cross Fang 3.7 g Left preferred (Zombie use); weak in Right A thin, four-sided ring with slightly outward-angled arms, decent balance but an unremarkable weight spread. Right Spin is fragile with short reach and outward angling that hands opponents extra leverage, making it ineffective offensively. Left Spin's small size makes it a workable, middling (tier 2-3), Zombie ring — somewhat more recoil-prone than top options and slightly too wide at the tips for elite status.
Weight Disk Eight Balance 14.1 g A middling-weight disk with an unremarkable weight spread, generally outclassed by more competitive disks like Ten Balance.
Spin Gear SG (Full Auto Clutch Version) Shaft (Spin Gear Shaft) 1.70 g Mixes real aggression with real stamina; defense ranges from average (in exposing bases) to poor (in its own home base). Compatible with several casings but height practically limits it to SG (Free Shaft Version) or SG (Full Auto Clutch Version). With Free Shaft casings it performs well across a range of bases — Defense Grip Base 2 is close to standard for its excellent LAD and weight spread, Customize Bearing Base is a strong runner-up, and Customize Grip Base offers strong LAD via its rim at some cost to ridge-catching. On its native Full Auto Clutch Base it's more aggressive with weaker recoil control but strong early aggression, forming the basis for viable Spin Stealing Attack builds. In Customize Grip Base its stability is strong enough to counter Circle Survivor Defense on Zombie ARs, making that combo a legitimate top-tier Zombie setup, and pairing it with Gyro Defense produces an exceptional Left-Spin Zombie by neutralizing that AR's usual instability.
Blade Base Full Auto Clutch Base 8.5 g Best paired with its own SG (Full Auto Clutch Version) Shaft, though SG (Free Shaft Version) works equally well. Its clutch fixes the shaft at the start of battle for aggressive movement, then releases into bearing-supported free spin later for improved spin-stealing. Offers very good LAD, second only to Spiral Change Base with Wide Survivor, though it has some trouble catching the tornado ridge, hurting recoil control especially early in a match.

Weights are single copies weighed on their own; a part can vary by a few tenths of a gram.

In play and in the story

Cross Fang's tiger-head contact points sit too shallow and blunt to hit hard, the Full Auto Clutch shaft is regarded as an aggressive but hard-to-tame attack piece based on 2011 WBO testing, and the Full Auto Clutch Base itself is considered too unbalanced for tournament play.

  • Released by Takara in clear yellow and clear purple colourways, the latter through the Driger F Joint Booster and the Beyblade C.C.G.
  • Reissued by Hasbro under the Metal Masters and Hyperblade lines, and later remade for the Burst System by both Takara Tomy and Hasbro.

Community testing, Oct. 03, 2011 — summarised

The competitive view

Cross Fang's thin, curved tiger-head design produces very little recoil and holds up reasonably in survival builds thanks to even weight distribution and a circular shape, though its thinness makes it fragile under pressure. The free-spinning Right Spin Gear's built-in bearing boosts attack speed sharply, at the cost of control, giving it strong use in both upper-attack and survival-zombie builds depending on which base it's fitted into. The Full Auto Clutch base trades speed for stamina, releasing its grip on the tip at lower RPMs to favour stamina over raw attack force. The Spin Gear and Blade Base are named as the beyblade's two genuinely useful parts, worth owning for that pairing alone.
