Description

A Turbo Engine Gear counterpart to Dragoon GT, released by Takara as the second GT starter. Its selling point is the same trigger-released engine burst, wrapped in the Dranzer line's blue-and-red styling. The compiled episode files show Kai using Dranzer G through the World Championship and Dranzer MS from the Justice 5 arc, with no on-screen GT stage in between, so Dranzer GT is treated here as a toy-line entry rather than an anime blade.

Dranzer GT carried Kai Hiwatari's colours for a stretch of Beyblade: G-Revolution and the manga before Brooklyn destroyed it during the BEGA League Qualification Tournament, and it later evolves into Dranzer MS. Sixth in the Dranzer line after A-99 Dranzer G, it runs a Type 6 Hit Reverse Engine Gear System, spinning a reversing Engine Gear core against the top's own direction to spring a surprise counterattack, tempered by a Blade Base built specifically to limit spin loss from the reversal.

Parts in detail

Pairs the symmetrical Triangle Wing Attack Ring with Ten Balance, a Right Engine Gear (Reverse) gimmick gear, the Final Clutch Base (Dranzer GT Version), and a Metal Semi-Flat Customize Engine Weight.

SlotPartWeightSpinNote
Attack Ring Triangle Wing 6.1 g Left & Right (symmetrical, identical performance both ways) A strong Traditional Upper Attack ring thanks to symmetrical, evenly-angled slopes performing identically in either spin direction; contributes more Smash Attack than Upper Dragoon (though less than Triple Tiger or Upper Claw in Right Spin). Carries somewhat more recoil than Upper Dragoon, slightly limiting Spin-Stealing use, and its wider, more angular, gapped design leaves it outclassed for defense and survival roles.
Weight Disk Ten Balance 15.0 g Well-weighted, compact edge-focused spread giving good all-around RPM retention and survival.
Spin Gear Right Engine Gear (Reverse) 6.7 g Right (wound like a Left Engine Gear due to the reversed gimmick) Designed to spin the tip counter-clockwise once triggered (upright orientation), meant to reverse the combo's movement and produce a counter-attack on Final Clutch bases; in practice it mostly produces odd jerking motion, especially with lower-friction CEWs. Triggering early just fights the CEW's own forces, generally hurting stamina. On Final Clutch bases it mainly reduces post-collision movement around the stadium — an interesting property the Engine Gear system lacks the parts to fully exploit.
Blade Base Final Clutch Base (Dranzer GT Version) 7.6 g Its three flat, rounded protrusions give an uncustomized combo a rough Attack/Survival mode-change by exposing or covering the Attack Ring's gaps, though this isn't especially effective. The Final Clutch triggers too late to meaningfully help Attack types while still destabilizing Defense/Stamina builds earlier; a late-game offensive push with flat tips rarely amounts to much given how depleted spin usually is by then. Has some niche use with Circle Survivor Defense for extra weight over standard Normal Bases, though the protrusions leave it more vulnerable to taller opponents' hits.
Other Metal Semi-Flat (Customize Engine Weight) 3.6 g A genuine semi-flat shape (actually beveled) but too aggressive for survival builds and unable to absorb hits well for defense; Engine Gear height and limited grip/speed/aggression rule it out for Attack builds.

Weights are single copies weighed on their own; a part can vary by a few tenths of a gram.

In play and in the story

The Triangle Wing attack ring echoes the classic Master Dragoon but with added symmetry, which lets it perform in either spin direction even though its upper-attack slope loses some bite in right spin; players have also noted its resemblance to Batranzer from Beyblade V-Force. The Right Engine Gear Reverse fares worse: its left-spinning burst is meant to create a zigzag attack pattern under ideal conditions, but the velocity it costs the top generally outweighs the mediocre reverse attack it produces, so the community tends to steer away from it, using the bundled Hit Release base mainly to soften how much spin the gimmick burns.

Community testing, Nov. 15, 2011 — summarised

The competitive view

Dranzer GT consists of Triangle Wing, the 10-Balance weight disk, the Reverse Engine Gear, the Metal Semi-Flat CEW and the Final Clutch Base, supporting upper-attack and spin-stealing combinations, with weights measured on a calibrated scale. Triangle Wing's shorter right-spin slopes are rated marginally weaker than Master Dragoon's Upper Dragoon in that direction, but its longer left-spin slopes make it the best choice against left-spinning Zombie customizations.
