Description

Kai's magnet-core blade, fitted when the Bladebreakers reunite and Kenny upgrades the team for V-Force. Dranzer V keeps Kai's centre-holding style and gives it a magnetic anchor that makes him almost impossible to knock off balance, with the Spiral Fireball delivering the counter-strike. It is the blade of Kai's grim island duel with Figel, his refusal to reveal Dranzer to Psykick's cameras, and the fight with Goki's Cyber Dranzer, and it is finally broken when King and Queen destroy its attack ring.

Kai Hiwatari's third Beyblade, Dranzer V is a Balance Type top on the Magnacore System, evolved from Dranzer F and later succeeded by Dranzer V2. It is built from the V-version Dranzer Bit Chip, the Cross Attacker Attack Ring, the Ten Balance Weight Disk, a South Magnecore Spin Gear and the mode-switching Volcano Change Blade Base, with extra recolours issued in white, a Hyper Red bundled with the A-80 Magne Dome stadium, and a Thunder Phoenix yellow paired with a Toys 'R' Us stadium set. The South Magnecore's redesigned magnet placement lets Volcano Change Base sit lower than a standard core allows, which in turn improves both its attack and its survival performance.

Parts in detail

Combo built around the Cross Attacker Attack Ring, Ten Balance Weight Disk, a unique Neo Right Spin Gear carrying the Dranzer-V-specific South Magnecore, and Volcano Change Base with its dedicated tip. Related release: Dranzer V (Hyper Red Version), a special A-80 Beystadium Magne Dome recolor using the North-polarity version of the same Magnecore.

SlotPartWeightSpinNote
Attack Ring Cross Attacker 5.6 g Right (competitive); Left (not competitive) A compact, four-winged ring whose contact points nearly mirror Cross Spiker's but sit slightly further inward, weakening Smash Attack to an unremarkable level; its short, abrupt slopes give solid Upper Attack and Upward Smash, making it a viable Right-Spin Traditional Upper Attack ring. Left Spin's rounded, poorly angled contact points make it recoil-prone with only low-to-middling power.
Weight Disk Ten Balance 15.0 g Well-weighted, compact edge-focused spread giving good all-around RPM retention and survival.
Spin Gear Neo Right Spin Gear Shells (Spin Gear Shells) 1.15 each (2.3 total) g Right Preferred over regular Right shells for compatibility with all SG-compatible bases, including Neo Cores and the Heavy Metal Core — a near-requirement for Compacts, Weight Based Defense, Force Smash, Traditional Upper Attack, and Driger V2 builds.
Spin Gear South Magnecore (Dranzer V Version) (Spin Gear Core) 3.23 g A modified South Magnecore with the magnet placed higher and a shorter gear section underneath, letting height-sensitive tips (Customize Grip Base Tip, Magne Flat Base Tip, SG Grip Base Tip, Volcano Change Base Tip) sit lower for a shorter combo. Its main niche is enabling a lower overall height with Volcano Change Base or Customize Grip Base Tip setups, though Defense Grip Base with an inverted tip usually offers better recoil control, speed, and cost anyway. Outside of height, performs like a standard South Magnecore.
Blade Base Volcano Change Base 3.5 g A small bracket-style base whose open bottom exposes the Spin Gear, relying entirely on a Magnecore and a compatible tip (not the base itself) to hold the tip in place; largely a formality/looks piece. Compatible with Volcano Change Base Tip or SG Grip Base Tip.
Other Volcano Change Base Tip (Tip) 3.1 g Safe to use only with Volcano Change Base itself, since other bases don't retain it securely. Its two faces vary by copy — the flatter the 'semi-flat' face, the sharper its opposite face. The sharp face is essentially unusable due to poor stability; the flat face gives decent LAD and stability from its free-spinning disk, performing best (near top-tier Zombie level) the flatter it is, especially with the SonoKong South Magnecore (Dranzer V Version) and Wide Survivor. As a narrow metal Attack tip it's controllable and reasonably fast though not quite competitive-tier, making it forgiving for newer players; being tall, it benefits from an overhanging Attack Ring.

Weights are single copies weighed on their own; a part can vary by a few tenths of a gram.

In play and in the story

The Cross Attacker ring gives modest upper and smash attack in right-spin but should be avoided in left-spin due to heavy recoil, while Volcano Change Base's attack mode is prized for its control and light friction and doubles as a workable survival base in zombie-style setups; taken together the combination is judged an easy, well-rounded choice for newcomers rather than a top-tier competitive pick.

  • Released in a White Version.
  • Released as the Hyper Red Version bundled with the A-80 Beystadium Magne Dome, carrying a unique North Magnecore.
  • Released as the Thunder Phoenix Yellow Version alongside the Toys 'R' Us Ultimate BeyStadium's Black Lightning colourway.

Community testing, Jun. 23, 2012 — summarised

The competitive view

Dranzer V's four-winged attack ring has short upper slopes that give it weak upper attack compared to sharper rivals, though its gapped, pointed wings still supply decent smash power as a budget substitute when better rings aren't on hand. The accompanying blade base's detachable, magnetically-linked tip lets a blader switch between a flat attack mode and a rounded stamina mode between battles, and the piece is considered one of the cheapest ways into the hobby despite being outclassed overall. A regional release of this bey is noted to use undersized parts incompatible with the two main toy makers' pieces.
