About This Part
Volcano Change Base is a 6.6-gram Blade Base for the Magnacore System, introduced with Dranzer V. Continuing the mode-switching idea seen on other Dranzer bases, it splits into an upper shell that mostly just covers the Spin Gear and a lower metal shaft held on purely by the pull of a Magnecore's magnet. That lower shaft carries a semi-flat end for Attack Mode and a sharp end for Endurance Mode, with a small free-spinning plastic disk part-way along it that gives comparable life-after-death to a weaker bearing setup, despite having no bearing of its own.
In Play
Endurance Mode is considered close to worthless, since the sharp tip's poor stability outweighs any benefit from the free-spinning disk; Attack Mode is where the part earns its reputation, its narrow tip giving strong controllability and its moderate height suiting low-hanging attack rings such as Triple Tiger or Upper Claw. The community also uses it in Zombie combinations, where its Attack-Mode stability and built-in life-after-death give it survival comparable to Wolborg's base and Spin Gear with more versatility, though its narrow width means it leans on the Weight Disk for life-after-death, so Wide Survivor pairs well with it.
- Debuted with the release of Dranzer V.
