Description

Kai's Engine Gear blade for the tag-team World Championship, first seen when Jin of the Gale corners him on a rooftop. Dranzer G's engine fires a sudden, blazing acceleration that Kai saves for the killing stroke, the Blazing Gig. Paired with Tala for the Blitzkrieg Boys, it beats Max and Rick, defeats Ray in their long-awaited face-off, and loses the final to Tyson's Dragoon GT by the narrowest of margins; it is later humiliated by Brooklyn in the BEGA selection match that sends Kai into hiding.

Dranzer G was the signature top for Kai Hiwatari in the Beyblade: G-Revolution anime, the manga and assorted video games before he moved on to a more advanced model. It stands as the fifth Dranzer release, following A-81 Dranzer V2, and runs a Type 3 Engine Gear System, which fires a right-spinning Engine Gear through a Hit Release blade base for a short burst of extra speed the instant the top strikes a wall or an opponent and the clutch levers let go. It has also appeared as a Hasbro red sparkly recolour and as a Takara tournament prize.

Parts in detail

Combo pairing the Wing Survivor Attack Ring, Ten Balance Weight Disk, a Right Engine Gear (Metal Semi-Flat), and the Final Clutch Base (Dranzer G Version) — the heaviest Final Clutch base and second-heaviest Engine Gear base overall. Related recolor: Dranzer G (Hasbro Metallic Red Ver.), which swaps the stock Engine Gear for a Customize Engine Gear plus CEW.

SlotPartWeightSpinNote
Attack Ring Wing Survivor 4.7 g Left & Right Poorly angled contact points give high recoil in Right Spin for only modest Smash Attack; its best Right-Spin role is a middling Force Smash use (still edged out by Smash Turtle). Left Spin trades power for less recoil, giving usable but non-competitive Smash Attack.
Weight Disk Ten Balance 15.0 g A well-weighted disk with a compact, edge-focused mass spread giving good all-around RPM retention and survival, making it a strong general-purpose choice.
Spin Gear Right Engine Gear (Metal Semi-Flat) 11.0 g Right Functions more like a small flat tip than a true semi-flat one since its edges aren't beveled, giving only moderately aggressive movement. Outclassed on offense by Right Engine Gear (Metal Flat) and, for overhanging-AR access, by Left Engine Gear (Metal Semi-Flat).
Blade Base Final Clutch Base (Dranzer G Version) 7.9 g The heaviest Final Clutch base and second-heaviest Engine Gear base overall, with an edge-focused weight spread and a slightly recoil-prone side profile; it can't fully exploit Circle Survivor Defense despite its weight since its details scrape and its edges take recoil on hits. Its clutch triggers too late to help most stamina-drained combos KO anything, but paired with Right Engine Gear (Metal Flat) it produces a genuine Life-After-Death property, shared only with Final Clutch Base (Gaia Dragoon G Version).

Weights are single copies weighed on their own; a part can vary by a few tenths of a gram.

In play and in the story

Community reviews mark the Wing Survivor attack ring down for its awkwardly angled contact points, which cause heavy recoil and undercut what little Smash Attack ability it has, leaving its Upper Attack and Force Smash slopes as its only real strength, and even Force Smash is generally rated below Smash Turtle. The bundled Right Engine Gear tip offers reasonable Attack speed and decent survival from its metal construction, but is considered outclassed by other Semi-Flat options, and most players view Engine Gear tips overall as a poor choice given their unpredictable burst, self-KO risk and the added height that keeps the attack ring from landing clean hits.

  • Recoloured by Hasbro as a red sparkly version and by Takara as a tournament prize.

Community testing, Nov. 16, 2011 — summarised

The competitive view

Dranzer G consists of the Wing Survivor attack ring, the 10-Balance weight disk, the Right Engine Gear with a Metal Semi-Flat tip, and the Final Clutch Base, including a force-smash-attack combination built around added weight and a rubber-tipped base. Wing Survivor's oval shape and large recoil are rated barely usable on its own, but its two sharp wingtip points are credited with an unusually strong force smash once that recoil is controlled through added weight and Customize Grip Base's rubber tip. Given the height involved, the force-smash combination is reported to also produce smash and even upper attack depending on how it lands.
