Description

Kai's Hard Metal System blade and the last Dranzer of the trilogy, built while he trains in secret with Romero after his defeat by Brooklyn. Dranzer MS has the heavy metal ring of its generation and a change-tip base, and its Blazing Gig Tempest is the strongest attack Kai ever throws. Its one great battle is the fourth Justice 5 match, where Kai pushes past exhaustion to beat Brooklyn's Zeus, a win that costs him his ability to blade and cracks the phoenix blade itself.

Kai Hiwatari's seventh Beyblade, Dranzer MS is a Balance-type top built for the Hard Metal System out of the Dranzer Emblem Bit Protector, the Spiral Upper Attack Ring, the Circle Balance Weight Disk and the Manual Change spinning core. It follows on from Dranzer GT and later becomes Dranzer MF in the manga, and it was the final top to carry the "A" product code. Takara sold it in black, grey, purple, silver and Suzaku red finishes, plus a limited gold-plated run for Beyblade's fifth anniversary.

In play and in the story

Community testing treats the Manual Change Core's switch between attack and stamina modes as the top's strongest asset, though its added height blunts what the Spiral Upper attack ring can otherwise do, and the Hasbro-made core trades some of that attack speed for a touch more stability.

  • Released in a Black Version as part of the HMS Custom Try Set.
  • Released in a Limited Proto Gray Version as part of the HMS 5 Saint Beasts Booster pack.
  • Released in Purple and Silver versions by Takara Tomy.
  • Released in a limited Suzaku Red special edition with a clear red Customize Case.
  • Up to 50 Gold Plated Version sets were given away through the Heavy Metal System Award prize set for the Beyblade 5th Anniversary Commemorative Campaign.

Community testing, 2011-02-18 — summarised

The competitive view

An HMS-era Beyblade combining the Dranzer Emblem bit-protector, Spiral Upper attack ring (twin "Dranzer Head" protrusions for smash and short upper-attack slopes), and the Manual Change Core base, which manually toggles between a taller Survival mode and a flatter Attack mode via side tabs.

Spiral Upper produces heavy recoil for little smash and only works effectively in left-spin due to a lack of usable combos in right-spin; the Manual Change Core's Attack mode has poor floor grip and self-KOs easily, while its Survival mode is too tall and destabilizes readily.

Verdict as the draft gives it: Not recommended for competitive play; it is considered worth owning only for collection purposes.

  • Bit-Protector: Dranzer Emblem (first bit-protector mold)
  • AR: Spiral Upper - metal frame slopes shorter than rival Upper Attack ARs like Circle Upper
  • RC: Manual Change Core - Attack mode retracts the tip to a flat hole-bottom; Survival mode extends a sharp tip and sits tall
  • Hasbro RC mold uses a single main shaft; Takara RC mold steps down twice to a smaller shaft at the base, giving the Hasbro version more floor friction and less spin time
