Description

The blade Kenny picks up when he decides to compete himself so that Tyson will not be left without a tag partner. Hopper Attack is a bouncing, unpredictable attacker with no bit-beast, and Kenny's success with it in the Japanese qualifier surprises everyone, although the repeated launches punish his arm. His two-episode stand against Tala's Wolborg 4 in the World Championship is the bravest thing the Chief does in the trilogy, and it earns him the respect of a team that had only ever seen him behind a laptop.

Takara first sold this Balance Type top as Einstein MS before Hasbro renamed it Hopper Attack, swapping the name on both box and stickers for its western release; in the Bakuten Shoot Beyblade manga, Kenny wields it as the successor to Hopper. The build runs a Heavy Metal Emblem Bit Protector, a Metal Spring Attack Ring, a Circle Heavy Weight Disk and a Spring Core Running Core.

In play and in the story

Community players treat the jagged, triangular Metal Spring as a light attacking piece usable in Smash Attack or Compact Customization setups similar to Jiraiya Blade, while Circle Heavy's high outward weight distribution makes it a stand-in for the rarer CWD Defense Ring or CWD God Ring in both attack and defensive builds; the Spring Core, by contrast, sits too tall and off-axis for real competitive use and is kept mostly for its bounce-on-launch gimmick.

  • Released by Takara as Einstein MS in Light Green.
  • Released by Hasbro as Hopper Attack, also in Light Green, with the name changed for the western market.
  • Released as Einstein MS in Fuschia through HMS Random Booster ACT 2.
  • Released as Einstein MS in Light Blue through the Beyblade Fukubako 2004 set.
  • Released as Einstein MS in Gold as a Coro Coro limited edition.
  • Released as Einstein MS in Dark Green as a tournament-limited edition.

Community testing, 2009-07-09 — summarised

The competitive view

Einstein MS (item MA-09, released by Hasbro as Hopper Attacker) is an Endurance-type Hard Metal System Beyblade whose small, jagged Metal Spring attack ring gives it some Smash Attack and Compact-build use, though the author admitted struggling to write a conclusive Overall section.

Metal Spring's small size and light weight suit compact, aggressive builds, though it is outclassed there by Metal Ape (Magical Ape MS) except in more aggressive compact setups; Spring Core's bouncy launch tip gives poor balance and vulnerability, described as fun for the gimmick but with no competitive use.

Verdict as the draft gives it: The article says Einstein MS isn't needed for any serious collection, though Metal Spring has some use when Magical Ape MS is unavailable.

  • Bit Protector: Heavy Metal Emblem (first mold)
  • Attack Ring: Metal Spring, 16 grams, triangular
  • Weight Disk: Circle Heavy (see Circle Heavy)
  • Running Core: Spring Core, 3 grams, spring-loaded plastic-sharp tip
  • Other versions: HMS Fukobako Lucky Box 2004 Booster (light blue); Random Booster Act 2 (fuchsia); Tournament Limited (dark green); Coro Coro Limited (gold)
