Description

Max's original blade, seen in his hobby-shop exhibition match with Tyson. Its base holds a free-rolling steel ball that soaks up impacts and keeps the top upright, the mechanical ancestor of the Draciel line's whole approach to battle: absorb, outlast, and wait for the attacker to make a mistake. The blade has no bit-beast of its own; Max receives the Draciel chip from his grandmother's family heirloom and moves it into Draciel S during the regional tournament.

Draciel Metal Ball Defenser was Max's first Beyblade before Draciel S took over that role. Built on the Spin Gear System, it uses a Max Shield attack ring with four nearly straight-edged panels, a Heavy weight disk and a Metal Ball Base blade base.

Parts in detail

Collectors flag that the Takara release (or a subset of it) shares the brittleness sometimes called 'Gold Plastic Syndrome' — similar to, or even worse than, the fragility seen in black Gaia Dragoon — meaning some copies can crack or shatter during assembly, so extra care is advised when handling this Beyblade.

SlotPartWeightSpinNote
Attack Ring Max Shield 3.5 g Right Only A lightweight, center-focused, Right-Spin-only Attack Ring whose flat faces cause heavy recoil and some fragility, ruling out Defense or Survival use, while its lack of real contact points rules out offense too.
Weight Disk Heavy 15.3 g The most centrally-massed Weight Disk in the game, though its actual weight varies noticeably between individual copies, so buyers should check before relying on a specific figure. Its large corner shape does generate some recoil on impact, softened somewhat by the compact mass distribution.
Blade Base Metal Ball Base 8.4 (+ up to six 1/4in metal balls, 1.05 each) g Right (built-in Right Spin Gear) A four-layer-system Base with a built-in Right Spin Gear and a shallow, slightly rounded sharp tip that becomes more rounded — and slightly more stable and defensive — with wear, which actually suits the Compact builds it's meant for. Its rolling-metal-ball gimmick (ships with two) barely functions as intended, since the shallow pocket slope means the balls need very little rotational speed to stay pushed outward, so extra balls are usually valued for their added weight rather than the gimmick itself.

Weights are single copies weighed on their own; a part can vary by a few tenths of a gram.

In play and in the story

The Max Shield ring's flat panels create enough friction against the stadium that the community rarely calls it a strong defensive choice, though its small size sees occasional use in weight-disk attack builds, well short of sharper parts.
