Description

Tala's Engine Gear blade for the Blitzkrieg Boys' championship run alongside Kai. Wolborg 4 keeps the ice-wolf's Novae Rog and adds an engine burst that Tala uses with sniper's patience, waiting through an entire match for one clean strike, as he does against Aaron's tampered blade in Egypt. It carries Tala to the World Championship final, where Daichi beats it, and it is the blade he is holding when Garland's Apollon puts him in hospital, the act that starts the war with BEGA.

Tala pilots this Stamina Type top in the anime and manga, and Takara Tomy built it around the Engine Gear System line. It carries a Wolborg-marked Bit Chip, a Star Wolf Attack Ring, a Ten Wide Weight Disk, a Circle Survivor Engine Gear and a Normal Base tuned for this version. It follows Wolborg 2 in the anime and manga and the toyline's Wolborg 03, and gives way to Wolborg MS and, later, Wolborg Metal Survive.

Part by part

Parts in detail

SlotPartWeightSpinNote
Attack Ring Star Wolf 4.3 g Right (usable) / Left (weak) A large six-pointed star-shaped ring, distinctive enough that the source jokes it invites 'sheriff badge' comparisons. In Right Spin its protruding 'nose' points are well-angled and well-exposed enough for strong smash, though the ring's other points add pure recoil and keep it just short of top-tier; in Left Spin it has no useful contact points at all.
Weight Disk Ten Wide 14.0 (Takara/Hasbro) / 14.3 (SonoKong G-Blade) g A moderately light, outward-weighted disk, solid for Smash Attack but outclassed by Wide Defense/Wide Survivor for spin-stealing or survival due to recoil.
Spin Gear Right Engine Gear (Circle Survivor) 6.8 g Right A generic engine gear whose prongs only fit the Circle Survivor CEW part; generally a bit less useful than Rock Bison's Right Engine Gear (Circle Defenser) since it sits lower and leaves the weight disk more exposed to low attackers, but it's convenient since it ships together with Circle Survivor itself.
Blade Base Normal Base (Wolborg 4 Version) 5.4 g A small, light engine-gear base with an 'always-on' clutch; it engages as soon as it's wound, whether by hand or by hits taken in battle, so it sometimes needs to be held steady at launch to avoid firing early. Its mostly circular rim makes it an excellent match for Circle Survivor Defense.
Other Circle Survivor (CEW / engine-gear attachment) 4.5 plus a 0.23 clip g A large, semi-free-spinning bowl mounted on the engine-gear shaft that shields the base of the Beyblade; it can keep the upper stack spinning even after the bowl itself topples, making it an unusually effective protective barrier. Because it isn't rigidly connected to the blade's main mass, it absorbs and disperses incoming hits exceptionally well, resists spin-stealing, and frequently traps less stable opponents underneath it.

Weights are single copies weighed on their own; a part can vary by a few tenths of a gram.

The competitive view

Wolborg 4 is a Hybrid Metal System (Engine Gear) Beyblade in the Survival type line, built around the AR Star Wolf, WD Ten Wide, the Right Engine Gear (Circle Survivor) spin gear with a detachable free-spinning bowl-shaped Customize Engine Weight, and the Normal Base (Wolborg 4 Version) blade base. Its Engine Gear/CEW/Blade Base package is prized for elite Defense/Survival hybrid customizations.

Star Wolf offers moderate Smash Attack in either spin direction but with notable recoil, so it isn't competitive for Attack, Defense, or Survival alone; the real value is the Right Engine Gear (Circle Survivor)'s free-spinning bowl CEW, which neutralizes short Attack types and Upper Attack by absorbing or charging on contact and provides strong Life After Death, used in a combo pairing Roller Defense Ring, Ten Heavy, Right EG (Circle Defenser) and Rock Bison's taller Base to maximize CEW contact height.

Verdict as the draft gives it: Despite a subpar Attack Ring and outclassed Weight Disk, the Engine Gear/CEW/Blade Base combination make Wolborg 4 an indispensable, cost-efficient purchase for competitive Plastics-era players.

  • AR Star Wolf: 5 grams, six-pointed star with three wolf-head points and three plain triangular points
  • WD Ten Wide: 13 grams
  • SG Right Engine Gear (Circle Survivor): 7 grams alone, 12 grams with its plastic bowl-shaped Customize Engine Weight (CEW)
  • BB Normal Base (Wolborg 4 Version): 5 grams, shorter and lighter than Rock Bison's equivalent base
  • Other version: Wolborg 4 - Ice Blue Version
