Description
Tyson's upgrade for the American tournament, built with the Spin Gear system's freer-spinning core and a wider attack ring. Dragoon F is the blade of the Phantom Hurricane, a full-arena cyclone that lifts opposing blades off the dish, and it stays with Tyson through Europe and Russia. Late in the season Judy and Taro Tate rebuild it with a metal-reinforced ring for the final against Tala, and it is this blade that wins Tyson his first world title.
Dragoon F served as Tyson Granger's third Beyblade in the anime and manga, arriving after Dragoon S and giving way in turn to Dragoon V. The build pairs a two-tiered Dual Dragon Attack Ring with an Eight Wide Weight Disk, a Left Spin Gear for counter-clockwise rotation, and a Fantom Grip Base carrying a tall rubber grip shaft. Takara Tomy produced the original release, and Hasbro handled several international recolors, including a Crystal version and a HyperBlades edition.

Parts in detail
Multiple naming conventions across regions and lines: Takara used 'Dragoon Fantom' consistently, while Hasbro used 'Dragoon Fighter' for the standard release but kept the 'Fantom' name for a related electronic Lights-and-Sounds top; SonoKong released it as 'Dragon F.'
| Slot | Part | Weight | Spin | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Attack Ring | Dual Dragon (Core AR) | 4.4 (5.9 total with Sub AR) g | Both (Right better for Defense/Survival, Left weak) | A two-part Attack Ring whose polycarbonate Sub Attack Ring is marketed as shock-absorbing, though it doesn't meaningfully do that in practice; it's notable mainly as an early spiritual forerunner to the clear PC frame pieces later used on Metal Fight Beyblade's 4D line, including that generation's own protagonist blade, Big Bang Pegasis F:D. In Left Spin its rounded contact points and modest range keep it from being a real Attack option; in Right Spin its rounded sub-frame and curved-back contact points make it not bad for Defense/Survival, though it's a bit too wide for the role and the core frame still carries meaningful recoil. |
| Weight Disk | Eight Wide | 12.7 (Hard Edge Mold) / 12.2 (Soft Edge Mold) g | A very light Weight Disk made in two molds — a sharper-edged one used only by Takara, and a softer-edged one used by both Takara (after production shifted to China) and Hasbro; the harder mold runs slightly heavier on average, but the overlap between the two is large enough that the difference is mostly negligible. | |
| Spin Gear | Left Spin Gear Shells | 1.12 ea (+1.12 optional Metal Weight Gear) g | Left | One of two Left-Spin-enabling shell sets (alongside Neo Left Spin Gear Shells), built to be incompatible with Four Layer System Attack Rings and, like the standard Right shells, unable to use Neo cores without Wyborg's Auto Change core — Neo Left shells are generally preferred instead for their broader compatibility, notably with Double Bearing Core. |
| Spin Gear | Regular SG Core Part | 0.61 g | Officially just called 'Gear' (renamed here to avoid confusion with the Metal Weight Gear that rides with standard shells), this small core part holds the Base and shells together via the Base Clips and doubles as a ripcord gear on Bearing Gyros Beyblades. It's the second-lightest core part overall, barely heavier than Wyborg's Auto Change core. | |
| Blade Base | Fantom Grip Base | 5.6 g | A mid-height Base with a fairly narrow, hard-rubber flat tip; the narrow tip and hard rubber cost it some speed and recoil control, but a strong launch keeps it quick and easy to flower-pattern, and it survives reasonably well for a rubber tip, which helps against Defense Grip Base-based defensive combos. |
Weights are single copies weighed on their own; a part can vary by a few tenths of a gram.

In play and in the story
The Fantom Grip Base carries more rubber than the Storm Grip Base on Dragoon S, but the compound is stiff enough that it struggles to generate real friction against a stadium floor, and once that rubber wears down the top turns erratic and loses stamina.
- Issued in a Crystal-plastic recolor.
- Released by Hasbro as a Metal Master version.
- Sold in a black recolor bundled with a Game Boy Player.
- Released in a blue recolor.
- Released by Hasbro in an orange-and-yellow HyperBlades edition.
Community testing, 2010-08-24 — summarised
The competitive view
Dragoon F is a left-spin plastic-generation attacker whose Dual Dragon attack ring is framed as an upgrade to Dragoon S's Reverse Dragon, though ultimately outclassed for competitive play; it also has a Weight Disk, Spin Gear and Fantom Grip blade base.
Dual Dragon has four attack points but is outclassed by attack rings with more power, leaving it little competitive use; Fantom Grip is a flat-rubber-tipped base, taller and with less endurance than its predecessor Storm Grip, usable at only mild effectiveness in Smash and Upper Attack combos.
Verdict as the draft gives it: The Beyblade is considered a collector's item best suited to those without a flat rubber tip already, not a must-have.
- Attack Ring: Dual Dragon, 6g, made partly of 'Dual Carbonate' for added durability and shock absorption
- Weight Disk: Eight Wide
- Spin Gear: Left SG
- Blade Base: Fantom Grip, 6g
- Other versions: Metal Master Version; Black Version (sold with a Game Boy Play accessory)
