About This Part

Eight Wide is a Weight Disk for the Spin Gear System that debuted with Dragoon S. True to the Wide line's name, it carries a large diameter with its mass pushed out toward the rim, making it noticeably lighter than the Heavy or Balance disks in the same system.

In Play

Its outward weight distribution suits Smash Attack builds, where the added mobility and speed let a combination land harder hits, and it also sees some use in Survival customs, though Zombie-style builds that need Wide Survivor or Wide Defense keep that role limited. Some Hasbro-made copies carry a single Attack Point, and the community generally favours the larger Ten Wide over both Six and Eight Wide when a choice is available.

  • Released with Dragoon S.
  • Some Hasbro-made units include a single Attack Point rather than the standard smooth rim.
  • Certain Hasbro molds of this disk carry a single Attack Point not found on the standard version.

Collector's Note

A lightweight disk with a moderately outward weight distribution, less extreme than Ten Wide, Wide Defense, or Wide Survivor. The sharper-edged "Hard Edge" mold is Takara-exclusive and runs slightly heavier on average; the "Soft Edge" mold (used by both Takara, after production moved to China, and Hasbro) sometimes shows small molding bumps with negligible effect on balance. Has a narrow niche exposing Attack Ring contact points that wider disks (like Double Wing) would otherwise cover, but its light weight generally leaves it outclassed overall. Ships on Dragoon S, Kids Dragoon, Galzzly, Seaborg, Trygle, and Dragoon F, among many others.
