Description

The whale blade of the Demolition Boys' heavyweight, a huge, slow-spinning defender that overpowers rather than outmanoeuvres. Seaborg's Voda Impact floods the stadium with a wall of water, and in the opening match of the World Championship final it beats Kai's Dranzer F, handing Biovolt the first point. Spencer returns to the dish in G-Revolution with Seaborg 2, teaming with Bryan in a two-on-one against Garland that shows how far the BEGA bladers have moved the goalposts.

Spencer wields Seaborg as a Defense Type top on the Spin Gear System in the manga, a build later succeeded by Seaborg 2. It combines the Seaborg bit-chip, the whale-shaped Whale Attacker attack ring, the Eight Wide weight disk, a Right Spin Gear and the Defense Grip Base blade base.

Parts in detail

The Navy Blue BBA Selection colorway of this Beyblade is prone to "Fragile Plastic Syndrome" and can reportedly shatter during assembly.

SlotPartWeightSpinNote
Attack Ring Whale Attacker 4.3 g Both directions In right spin, highly aggressive with major recoil and fairly strong Smash, but its connection angles make it fragile — especially prone to UV damage in its default color, and simply brittle in Navy; power doesn't fully justify the recoil, though pairing it with the stock Defense Grip Base makes it a reasonably safe offensive pick against low-grip opponents. In left spin, rounded contact points give mediocre range and average Smash, with recoil-prone side spikes limiting other uses, but its slopes give strong Upper Attack — especially exceptional on a low base like Storm Grip Base (Tip Inverted).
Weight Disk Eight Wide 12.7 (Hard Edge mold) / 12.2 (Soft Edge mold) g A very light disk with a wide (if less extreme than Ten Wide/Wide Defense/Wide Survivor) weight spread; has minor use with Attack Rings whose contact points get obstructed by wider disks (e.g. Double Wing), but its light weight leaves it outclassed overall.
Spin Gear Right Spin Gear + Right Spin Gear Shells 1.1 each shell + 1.12 (Metal Weight Gear, optional) g Right Standard shells, incompatible with Neo cores and some MagneSystem bases (though Wyborg's SG Auto-Change core part can bridge that gap); Neo shells are generally preferred for their broader compatibility, especially with the Heavy Metal Core in right spin. The optional Metal Weight Gear reduces rattling and adds a touch of weight but has no actual gearing function, and per BBA-series Beyblades shipping without it, isn't required for legality.
Blade Base Defense Grip Base 6.1 g A dual-mode base — Normal Mode inserts a rubber sharp tip from the Spin-Gear side; Attack Mode flips the tip in from below for a wide, flat rubber tip; both modes are WBO-legal. In Normal/Defense mode, the sharp rubber tip is fairly aggressive with poor Life-After-Death, a real liability against traditional attack combos and balance types, though its excellent grip keeps it centered and it's genuinely one of the hardest bases to knock out against modern hyper-aggressive Smash attackers. In Attack/Tip-Inverted mode, the wide flat rubber tip gives excellent speed and solid recoil control, making even very recoil-heavy Hyper-Aggressive rings usable; its height is the main downside, but that height lets elevated-contact rings like Mountain Hammer handle Circle Survivor Defense reliably; compatible with any non-gimmicked regular or Neo Spin Gear core, including the Heavy Metal Core.

Weights are single copies weighed on their own; a part can vary by a few tenths of a gram.

In play and in the story

Competitive players generally treat Whale Attacker as a heavy hitter that also brings serious recoil and breakage, needing a recoil-taming tip such as SG Grip Change Base or an inverted Defense Grip Base to be worth running; that inverted setup, in fact, turns Defense Grip Base's otherwise survival-weak stock tip into a prized attack tip, one that pairs well with wide attack rings like Triple Tiger or Dragon Breaker.

Community testing, Aug. 12, 2011 — summarised

The competitive view

Seaborg consists of the Whale Attacker attack ring, the 8-Wide weight disk, the right spin gear, and the Defense Grip Base, and comes in a list of colour variants, with a one-hit-knockout combination. Whale Attacker's asymmetric fins give it some left-spin upper attack, overshadowed by Upper Dragoon and Triangle Wing's larger slopes, and substantial right-spin smash attack undercut by heavy recoil, leading it toward a risky one-hit-knockout role rather than sustained play.
