Description
Spencer flew Seaborg 2 in the first anime series in place of the original Seaborg, whose build it evolved. A Balance Type top on the Spin Gear System, it combines the Seaborg bit chip, the Whale Crusher attack ring, the Eight Wide weight disk, a Right Spin Gear and the SG Flat blade base.

Parts in detail
No further release history given.
| Slot | Part | Weight | Spin | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Attack Ring | Whale Crusher | 7.3 g | Both directions | An extremely wide, three-sided ring. In right spin, its slopes give strong Upper Attack and some Upward Smash, and its width lets it reach under opponents without needing to overhang the Weight Disk the way Upper Dragoon-style rings do, making it a competitive Traditional Upper Attack ring (though its lack of spin-stealing rules out Spin-Stealing Attack use). In left spin, side spikes and rounded "screw" details give notable Smash Attack, held back by high recoil and rotational recoil, especially if it fails to KO early. |
| Weight Disk | Eight Wide | 12.7 (Hard Edge mold) / 12.2 (Soft Edge mold) g | A very light disk with a wide (if less extreme than Ten Wide/Wide Defense/Wide Survivor) weight spread; has minor use with Attack Rings whose contact points get obstructed by wider disks (e.g. Double Wing), but its light weight leaves it outclassed overall. | |
| Spin Gear | Right Spin Gear + Right Spin Gear Shells | 1.1 each shell + 1.12 (Metal Weight Gear, optional) g | Right | Standard shells, incompatible with Neo cores and some MagneSystem bases (though Wyborg's SG Auto-Change core part can bridge that gap); Neo shells are generally preferred for their broader compatibility, especially with the Heavy Metal Core in right spin. The optional Metal Weight Gear reduces rattling and adds a touch of weight but has no actual gearing function, and per BBA-series Beyblades shipping without it, isn't required for legality. |
| Blade Base | SG Flat Base | 4.4 g | The shortest base in Plastics; struggles to hold a flower pattern with only average stamina and recoil control, but is a passable backup for Traditional Upper Attack and Compacts, and has a defensive/stamina niche similar to Semi-Flat Base Stamina builds (paired with Wide Defense and a compact ring), trading slightly worse Life-After-Death than Flat Base for Spin Gear customization options. |
Weights are single copies weighed on their own; a part can vary by a few tenths of a gram.

In play and in the story
Community assessment holds that Whale Crusher's upper-attack ability is too aggressive for the one genuinely competitive upper-attack style, spin-stealing, yet not strong enough for smash attack in either spin direction, leaving the top without a truly competitive part; most collectors buy it for the set rather than the stadium.
- A Hyperblades Version shipped in light and dark green.
- A white Random Booster version and a red translucent Random Booster version followed.
Community testing, 2009-03-08 — summarised
The competitive view
Seaborg 2 (item A-40, 5-Layer system) is a plastic-generation Attack-type Beyblade whose Whale Crusher attack ring is aimed at left-spin Smash Attack and One Hit Knock Out (OHKO) play, at the cost of significant recoil.
Whale Crusher gives left-spin Smash Attack and OHKO potential but has heavy recoil and only negligible Upper Attack, recommended only when Eight Spiker is unavailable; an OHKO build using SG Metal Flat 2 (Gaia Dragoon V) as the blade base is noted as risky since it must win quickly or spin out, though Metal Flat gives it slightly longer spin than Storm Grip Base would.
Verdict as the draft gives it: Rated useful specifically for players wanting to try One Hit Knock Out play.
- Item number: A-40
