Biography

Kane Yamashita leads the bladers the Bladebreakers meet at Hilary's barbecue, and his first match with Tyson ends in an exact draw — their styles are close enough that the others compare them to brothers. Loyalty to Psykick's scientists pulls him and his friends into piloting cyber copies, and Kane is the one who genuinely believes a blader can wield Cyber Dragoon without being taken over by it. The three-episode duel at the top of the Battle Tower proves him wrong as the copy overwhelms him mid-battle; Tyson's win frees him and restores the friendship. The manga drops the arc entirely and makes him an arrogant genius who dismisses his rivals from the start. He and his friends turn up to cheer the team on at the World Championship.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Spiky blue-black hair and blue eyes. He first appears in a green shirt and torn jeans with white shoes, then in the Team Psykick uniform, launching from a white pod worn on the wrist like the rest of his team. By the end of the season he is in a dark green undershirt under a white coat, with black trousers, a red cloth tied at one ankle and black shoes.

A passionate blader, and good enough that his first match with Tyson ended level. Why he works for Psykick is never explained, but his belief that battles turn on spirit rather than force reads as genuine. Where he parts company with Salima is the Cyber bit-beasts: he thought they could be used without being taken over by them, and he was wrong. The manga draws him almost inside out — a genius with an IQ of 200 who calls Tyson, his friends and the Saint Shields simpletons and fools, and is loudly proud of his own team.

Beyblade V-Force (2002)

Team Psykick

Helping save a stranger's Beyblade and pulling Tyson's grandfather from a river comes just before Kane accepts a challenge from Tyson, trading attacks to a stalemate close enough that onlookers compare them to siblings. Gideon's laboratory changes the terms: handed Cyber Dragoon, Kane convinces himself enough willpower can hold a stolen power in check. That confidence collapses across three episodes atop the Battle Tower, where the bit-beast swells past Dragoon's size and turns him violent, knocking Salima aside when she tries to stop him. Only Tyson's battered win frees him, and the tower falls as they escape. He returns for the World Championship at Jim's side, forfeiting after King and Queen destroy their Beyblades, and cheers loudest when Tyson and Max even the score.
