Description

The engineered dark twin of Dranzer, kept in the Balkov Abbey and dangled in front of Kai to draw him back to his grandfather's organisation. Black Dranzer is the most powerful single blade of the first season: it can steal other bit-beasts outright, and in Kai's hands it strips the All Starz of theirs in one exhibition. Its story ends on a frozen lake, where the Bladebreakers refuse to give up on Kai and he abandons the black phoenix to return to his own Dranzer.

A dark recolor of Dranzer F, distinguished from it only by color, first sold in Japan bundled exclusively with the Bey Ultimate Stadium before Hasbro issued it as a standalone Beyblade: V-Force product. In the anime it is the corrupting, forbidden top Kai wields under Biovolt's influence.

Parts in detail

A black recolor of Dranzer F matching the anime's plot-relevant Black Dranzer. Takara released it once, uniquely named, in the A-38 Bey Ultimate Stadium set; Hasbro released it three times with a green tip, via the V-Force BBA Championship Series (without the Black Dranzer bit sticker) and both the G-Revolution BBA Championship Series and G-Revolution Battle Set (with the sticker).

SlotPartWeightSpinNote
Attack Ring Flame Wing 3.8 g Right and Left A compact, edge-focused ring, slightly wider than Wide Survivor, whose wingtips are extremely fragile in Right Spin and somewhat fragile in Left Spin — most secondhand copies have broken rings.
Weight Disk Eight Heavy 15.3 (regular mold) / 15.5 (indent mold) g Outclassed by Ten Heavy for essentially every purpose, though it edges out plain Heavy slightly for Compacts thanks to marginally more weight and lower recoil.
Spin Gear Right Spin Gear (Triple Change Version) with SG (Triple Change Version) core shells 1.1 each; optional Metal Weight Gear 1.12; core 1.7 g Right A novelty core offering three tip shapes in one, though the switching mechanism can wear enough to let the selected tip shift mid-battle, and each individual tip is generally outclassed by a dedicated part built for the same role.
Blade Base Flame Change Base 4.1 g A compact-distribution shell mainly built to house the Triple Change core; once useful for early balance-type builds thanks to its tip versatility, it's now outclassed on every tip setting.

Weights are single copies weighed on their own; a part can vary by a few tenths of a gram.

In play and in the story

Its Flame Wing Attack Ring suits both a lightweight, high-speed Smash setup (paired with a 10 Wide disk and Grip Base) and, when built heavier with a 10 Heavy disk and Storm Grip base, an effective Upper Attack that lifts opposing tops instead of being pushed down.

  • Released by Takara in Japan in October 2001 exclusively with the Bey Ultimate Stadium, a motorized reversible stadium.
  • Issued standalone by Hasbro in 2003 for the international V-Force toyline; some releases mistakenly used the standard red Dranzer sticker instead of the Black Dranzer graphic.
  • In the anime, young Kai first wields it before it proves too strong to control; Boris later returns it to him after he defects to the Demolition Boys.
  • Kai uses it to capture seven bit-beasts and to defeat the All Starz and, briefly, Tyson's team, before Draciel and then Dranzer together break its hold and Kai destroys Biovolt's mainframe.
