Parts in detail

Winner of the first Coro-Coro 'Design a Beyblade' competition, originally released as a Coro-Coro limited item; its fan popularity led to official successors that appeared in the G Revolution anime, with this specific version appearing in the Beyblade: Fierce Battle movie. A separate all-Black recolor exists that is exceptionally fragile and ships with a randomized weight disk (one of Eight Heavy, Eight Wide, Eight Balance, Wide Defense, Heavy Attack, or Revolver Attack) instead of the standard Heavy Attack.

SlotPartWeightSpinNote
Attack Ring Great Dragon 3.9 (Core AR) g Right and Left A thin, somewhat fragile two-part Attack Ring that delivers excellent Smash Attack in both spin directions once its stock Wing Sub-Ring (which mostly gets in the way) is swapped for War Lion or War Bear, or fixed onto Screw Zeus; right-spin pairing with War Lion is rated top-tier competitive.
Sub Attack Ring "Wing" Sub-Ring 1.5 g The same weak, softer-plastic Sub-Ring used across several Beyblades in this batch; recoil-prone and offensively useless, rated as having no real competitive role of its own.
Weight Disk Heavy Attack 16.0 g A compact, heavy disk whose rounded attack-point protrusions cause serious recoil rather than adding offense, limiting it to defensive builds shielded from direct contact; largely outclassed by the similarly heavy but more versatile Ten Heavy.
Spin Gear Right Spin Gear (G Ball) 1.1 per shell + 1.12 optional Metal Weight Gear (shells) / 0.88 plus up to one 3/16" metal ball (~0.448) (core) g Right A modified standard-shell Spin Gear whose core is drilled to accept a small metal ball for extra weight, restricting legal fitment mainly to G Special Base (and, with caveats, Fortress Base); the all-Black core version is unusually fragile and should be avoided.
Blade Base G Special Base 4.6 plus up to four 3/16" metal balls (0.448 each) g Built around four metal-ball pockets for added weight, though the pockets hurt Life-After-Death and the base isn't especially heavy overall; its tip (shared with SG Wing Base) gives controllable, moderately aggressive movement that suited early-era Attack builds but is now outclassed.

Weights are single copies weighed on their own; a part can vary by a few tenths of a gram.

In play and in the story

The community regards Gaia Dragoon as carrying nothing competitively useful, worth owning for the collection rather than the battle.

  • Released by Takara as a CoroCoro Comic Limited exclusive, later reissued in yellow through BeyBooster S, and in red, blue and black colourways, with blue and black sold through Random Booster 7.

Community testing, Dec. 05, 2015 — summarised

The competitive view

Gaia Dragoon is an HMS-era Beyblade whose purple Great Dragon Attack Ring (holding a clear-yellow wing Sub-Attack Ring) suffers breakage issues in Right Spin and is incompatible with the Screw Zeus Sub-Attack Ring. Its Heavy Attack Weight Disk, right-spin-only "G Ball" Spin Gear, and dedicated Special Base are all considered non-competitive.

Great Dragon has little practical use due to Right-Spin breakage issues and its incompatibility with Screw Zeus; the Special Base's ball-bearing protrusions cause poor stability, and its lack of high-speed movement plus scraping issues rule it out of competitive play entirely.

Verdict as the draft gives it: Contains no competitively useful parts; recommended only for collectors.

  • AR Great Dragon: purple, dual dragon-head design, holds a Sub-Attack Ring (clear-yellow wing S-AR included); incompatible with Screw Zeus
  • WD Heavy Attack: hexagonal shape like "6" Heavy but with circular notches at each vertex; lighter than 10 Heavy
  • SG Right Spin Gear (G Ball): single metal ball with 4 square retaining shapes, works only with the Gaia Dragoon G Special Base
  • BB Gaia Dragoon G Special Base: holds 4 metal balls, translucent yellow flat tip
