Biography

Hiro is Tyson's older brother, first seen as the masked Jin of the Gale, a wandering blader who interrupts Tyson and Daichi's first fight and then tests Ray — a disguise he keeps almost to the end of G-Revolution while he measures how much his brother has grown. Unmasked, he coaches the new BBA Revolution through the tag-team championship, pushing Tyson hard because he believes a champion has to be tested rather than protected. That belief takes him across the line: when Boris raises the BEGA League, Hiro goes to coach its bladers and builds Brooklyn into something devastating, before falling out with Boris over what BEGA is actually for. He blades with Metal Driger, a mechanical tiger with no living bit-beast in it, and is generally reckoned the fourth strongest in the series behind Kai, Tyson and Brooklyn. Afterwards he goes back to archaeology, and later teaches the game in Africa.

Beyblade G-Revolution (2003)

BBA Revolution (coach); BEGA League (coach) from the BEGA arc

Under a mask and the name Jin of the Gale, he ambushes Tyson soon after Daichi joins him, beats down Tyson, Daichi and Ray together with Metal Driger, then later gives Ray a harder, stranger fight built on reflections off the wet ground before easing off once he's satisfied Ray has passed his test. Revealed as Tyson's own brother, he becomes coach of the newly formed BBA Revolution and drives Tyson through the tag-team championship on the belief that a champion is made by pressure, not protection. Once BEGA appears he crosses over to train its bladers, pours everything into building Brooklyn into a real threat, and finally breaks with Boris once he sees what BEGA wants Brooklyn for.

  • In the manga, gives Tyson his first Dragoon and later a crucial upgrade part that helps beat Tala's Wolborg 2.

Quotes

In Their Own Words

  • You still don't recognize me, do you Tyson? I thought for sure you would've figured it out by now. My voice, my mannerisms...but you don't have a clue, do you? Well, DO YOU?
    as Jin of the Gale
  • Only Tyson is capable of fixing his own shattered mindset. No one can do it for him. Hang in there, little brother.
  • Way to go, Tyson. I have to admit, I was a little worried, but you really pulled through. You played by the rules and you gave it everything you had, little brother. That's what makes a true champion. I'm proud of you. Real proud.
Hiro's thought after Tyson's third World Championship victory
  • They didn't need a professional league like BEGA. Never did. BEGA's team is history, Boris.

Rivals & bonds

Known associates

  • Tyson Granger younger brother
  • Grandpa Granger He leaves the dojo and his grandfather's routines behind for archaeology and later coaching, checking in only rarely, though the household that raised him clearly shaped the discipline he now demands of Tyson.
  • Daichi Sumeragi He knocks Daichi flat as Jin of the Gale early on, then later, as coach, has him picked as an alternate for the BBA Revolution, treating the wild newcomer as raw talent worth developing.
  • Brooklyn his BEGA pupil
  • Boris Balkov He signs on to coach for Boris only to push Tyson toward a worthy opponent, and the arrangement sours once he sees Boris intends to use Brooklyn for something far uglier than competition.
