Biography

Brooklyn is BEGA's prodigy, a serene, nature-loving boy who barely trains because he has never had to — blading comes to him as easily as breathing, and a childhood of winning without effort has left him detached and without any particular direction. His bit-beast Zeus is the strongest thing the series has shown. He destroys Kai in their first match without appearing to try, and it is the ease of it, rather than any cruelty, that makes him frightening. Kai's rematch in the Justice 5 hands him the first loss of his life and his mind cannot hold it: he comes back for the tiebreaker with Zeus warping the arena into something close to a black hole, and Tyson's Dragoon breaks it by drawing on every bond the team has. The final win is as much a rescue as a victory, and it leaves Brooklyn respecting the game for the first time.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Orange-haired and aqua-eyed, Brooklyn dresses in a long white jacket set off with a black collar and shoulder accents, a gold border running along the middle and hem with matching buttons on each side, and a white belt at the waist. He wears matching white trousers, brown shoes and maroon fingerless gloves.

Two very different people seem to live inside Brooklyn: a calm, gentle, genuinely kind side, and a psychotic, aggressive one that can surface without warning. He would rather lie in the grass outdoors, looking after whatever insect or animal happens by, than sit through strategy sessions or training indoors, and he has an odd gift for foreseeing how a battle will unfold — he correctly called both Mystel's fight against Max and Tyson's comeback win over Crusher. His childhood shaped much of this: because he always won, other children stopped wanting to play with him, and his own brilliance left him isolated. In large part, his character is described as a pale echo of Kai's.

Beyblade G-Revolution (2003)

BEGA League / Justice Five

Brooklyn shows up to the qualifiers with no visible training and dismantles Kai without trying, only realizing afterward how much power that took. Hiro's encouragement to own his strength curdles into something colder, and by the Justice 5 rematch Brooklyn wants to crush every opponent rather than simply win. Kai hands him his first loss ever, and Brooklyn can't process it — he shuts down and refuses the defeat until Hiro talks him back into the tiebreaker. Facing Tyson, his own happiness fuses with Zeus into a black hole that starts swallowing the world, and only Dragoon, carrying the bond of the whole G Revolutions team, breaks it. He finishes the match finally at peace with the game, and BEGA collapses in the wreckage of what he unleashed.

Briefing

What to know

  • Natural Beyblade genius who has never needed to train or try hard at anything in his life.
  • Can predict opponents' moves and battle outcomes almost like clairvoyance.
  • His Bit-Beast Zeus, God of Darkness, can copy an opponent's Bey and anticipate its next move.
  • Loses for the first time ever to Kai Hiwatari, triggering an unstable awakening of his Fighting Spirit.
  • In his final battle, his emotions and Zeus's power combine to create a world-swallowing black hole.
  • Tyson's evolved Dragoon breaks the black hole and restores reality, ending the battle presumably in Tyson's favor, though the result is not shown on-screen.
  • In the manga, he's not a G-Revolution antagonist at all — Boris instead answers to Dr. Zagart there.

  • Hiro Granger his BEGA coach
  • Boris Balkov Boris's BEGA is the platform that puts Brooklyn in front of Kai in the first place, though Brooklyn shows almost no interest in Boris's larger scheme beyond the battles themselves.
