Description

Magical Layer belongs to the Bearing Gyro wave of the Spin Gear System, built from the Balance holder, the Gyro Defense ring, the Gyro Super disk and the Gyro Spin Gear unit, and it hit Japanese stores in December 2000. Gyro Defense's rounded, evenly weighted rim gives long unassisted spin, but the gap where its two halves meet causes noticeable recoil when it takes a hit. The Gyro Super disk is unusually heavy and wide for its era, with its mass pushed almost entirely to the rim. Assembly follows the standard Bearing Gyro pattern of holder, ring, disk and geared shaft, and the shaft itself will not fit an ordinary launcher.

In play and in the story

The ring is one of the community's top picks for outlasting an opponent in solo spin trials, though its recoil makes it a weak choice against sturdy defensive builds unless paired with a full-auto clutch shaft, which turns it into a capable option for endurance-style match play.

  • Released in Japan in December 2000 in the Bearing Gyro Beyblade series.
