Biography

Zeo arrives as a shy, earnest fan who wants Tyson to teach him to blade, and for a while he is the closest thing the Bladebreakers have to a fifth member. Then his father tells him what he is: an android built to replace a son who died. He declares the team his enemies, and with Cerberus — a three-headed hound of frightening power — he enters the World Championship with Gordo, beating Ozuma, Kai and Max and taking Dranzer and Draciel on the way to the final. He pushes Tyson to the limit in the tiebreaker and loses, and what Tyson says afterwards is what lets him accept being what he is instead of refusing it.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Zeo's hair is long, jagged and turquoise, a shade darker than his eyes. As a young boy he dressed simply, in a plain magenta shirt, blue jean shorts and dark blue socks. Later he switches to a white-and-purple suit with matching trousers and white gloves, the suit fastened with four dark green and gold clasps across the top and pants, worn over a dark green metallic piece underneath.

Zeo is gentle-mannered and treats others with respect, and he idolises Tyson to the point of wanting to become just as great a blader himself. He stays optimistic and determined about his goals, battling on with real perseverance even in fights he expects to lose. Learning that his father, Dr Zagart, means to steal the Bladebreakers' Bit-Beasts devastates him, since it clashes with his own strong sense of honour and his disgust at theft; once his father tells him the full truth, though, Zeo hardens into someone colder and more sinister. That change only reverses after Tyson beats him and claims a second World Championship, which lets Zeo return to who he was before.

Bladebreakers (briefly), then Team Zagart

Saved from a four-on-one beating by the Saint Shields, Zeo latches onto Tyson as a hero and spends a stretch of the season as close to the Bladebreakers as an outsider gets. His father ends that: Zeo is a machine built after the real Zeo's death, not a boy who can improve. Zeo declares the team his enemies, trains hard with Cerberus, and reaches the World Championship paired with Gordo. He demolishes Ozuma, strips Dranzer from Kai, then Draciel from Max, warning Tyson he intends to take Dragoon too and now fights only for himself. Their tiebreaker runs hot enough to short-circuit part of his body, and Tyson's win costs Zeo the bit-beasts he took. What Tyson tells him after lets Zeo stop fighting what he is.

Claims We Could Not Check

  • His story parallels Astro Boy, where a grieving scientist rebuilds his dead son as a robot.
  • Cerberus's three blade colors (blue, green, red) are said to reference Dragoon, Draciel, and Dranzer, the three Bit-Beasts he battled.
  • The only Team Zagart member to keep his Bit-Beast after the arc, since the others' bit-chips are destroyed.
