Biography

Stanley A. Dickenson, the rotund, bowler-hatted chairman of the Beyblade Battle Association, is the adult who keeps the whole sport running. He spots the four finalists of the Japanese qualifier, forms them into the Bladebreakers and sends them round the world, quietly footing the bills, smoothing over the chaos and steering them through Europe to sharpen them up without telling them that is what he is doing. He has a past of his own: decades earlier he researched bit-beasts alongside Dr Zagart, the partner who became a rival. His belief in fair play makes him the natural enemy of Voltaire, Boris and the BEGA League, whose buyout of the BBA costs him his job and leaves him feeding birds in a park until Tyson's alliance wins the sport back and puts him in his chair again.

Appearance

What They Look Like

An elderly man with a long white moustache and heavy white brows, in a dark grey suit with a single gold button over a white work shirt and a red bow tie, a grey bowler with a red band, small round glasses and a brown cane. The later seasons deepen the grey, grey the moustache and turn the bow tie and hat band periwinkle.

Story by season

Where the seasons take them

Beyblade (2001)

BBA chairman

He picks Tyson, Kai, Ray, Max and Kenny out of the Japanese qualifiers and folds them into a single team, then travels with them through the Asian and American rounds alongside Tyson's grandfather. When their boat docks in Europe on the way to the Russian finals, he disguises himself and talks the boys into leaving it behind so they pick up local blading styles on their own rather than being shipped straight there. In Russia he and Grandpa Granger back the team through the deciding matches, and it comes out that the whole roster exists to expose Biovolt, the company Voltaire Hiwatari runs with Boris Balkov at his side.

Beyblade V-Force (2002)

BBA chairman

He turns down Dr. B's push for a scripted contest and instead has Team Psykick earn their shot by beating the BBA's own training squad, then spends the rest of the season scrambling after his own team once Psykick strands them on their island, at one point flying over it himself with Tyson's grandfather to find them. He apologises to the whole group afterward, and later takes them to the lab where he worked decades earlier, admitting to a past partnership with Dr. Zagart that ended when Zagart vanished with a strange rock and years of research. Tracking Zagart down finally answers his oldest mystery, and the partner who once studied bit-beasts with him gives up the theft rather than fight him for it.

Beyblade G-Revolution (2003)

BBA chairman

He rebuilds the roster once more, this time as the BBA Revolution with Tyson, Kenny, Hilary, Daichi and Hiro, and keeps the World Championships running with no idea that Boris is using the tournament as cover to seize the BBA the moment it ends. The takeover costs him his job along with everyone else's, and for a stretch he has nothing to do but sit in a park feeding birds. When the scattered bladers finally gather in Tala's hospital room, it's Dickenson who formally names them the G Revolutions and gives their fight against BEGA a banner to fight under, and once Brooklyn's destruction is stopped he's the one who reopens the BBA.
