Biography

Emily Watson is the All Starz' analyst and tennis-styled blader, Judy Tate's brightest apprentice and the team member most convinced that data beats instinct — she builds the Beyblades the team uses. She is the first American to test a Bladebreaker, taking Max in a research-centre match, and her alligator bit-beast Trygator gives her a whipping, lashing style. She starts snobbish and endlessly analytical, famously fixed on working Kai out, and softens after Max shows her what a team is for and after Black Dranzer takes the All Starz' bit-beasts. Her rivalry with Kenny cools into professional respect, and in G-Revolution she blades as the team's one woman before moving to the bench, co-building the outlawed G-Core Beyblades with Kenny and Miguel for the fight against BEGA.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Short orange hair spiking out at the sides, large round glasses and blue-grey eyes. She wears a green polo and skirt with orange and tan shoes and the All Starz team jacket, and unlike the other girls she keeps the one outfit throughout.

Snobbish and nosy in the first season, and pleased with it: she works Kai out, tells him so to show off the skill, and carries on after he tells her to mind her own business. By the third season the superiority has drained away and left a bookworm — analytical, observant, and far more interested in the work than in reading people. She builds every Beyblade the All Starz use, apprenticed to Judy Tate and learning the trade with an eye on becoming the BBA's own mechanic.

Where the seasons take them

Beyblade (2001)

All Starz

Emily first makes her mark by blindsiding Max with her tennis launcher, then demands the spotlight in a doubles exhibition with Max and Mario, ordering them to stay out of her way — a plan that collapses once the opposing team ganges up on her, and it's Max's teamwork, not her data, that pulls the round out. She spends most of the American arc watching from the stands with Judy rather than blading herself, only stepping back onto the dish in Russia, where an exhibition tie with the White Tigers leaves her needling Mariah and both of them prickly. When Kai unleashes Black Dranzer on the All Starz, Emily goes down with the rest of the team and loses Trygator along with everyone else's bit-beasts, getting it back only once Tyson beats Tala.

Beyblade G-Revolution (2003)

PPB All Starz

Emily fights for a starting spot in the PPB All Starz lineup during the World Championships and loses to Max again, but the setback barely slows her down. Once BEGA becomes the real threat, she steps away from blading almost entirely to build the G-Core Beyblades alongside Kenny and Miguel, turning out the most powerful — and most illegal — equipment the sport has seen. Missing the chance to battle the other girls for the team's one guaranteed spot doesn't bother her; she'd rather be at the workbench solving the problem than proving herself on the dish, and it's engineering, not competing, that ends up being her real contribution to beating Boris.
