Biography

Eddy — Eddie Smith in Japan — brings basketball flair to the All Starz, launching with a leap and treating every match as a highlight reel. His scorpion bit-beast Trypio strikes with a stinging tail that punishes hesitation, and he once took Ray Kon apart with a strategy lifted straight off the court. He tests Ray in the research centre and meets him again in the American final, where the Bladebreakers' teamwork is the difference. More showman than strategist, but the confidence is real. He loses to Tala in Russia and loses Trypio with the rest of the team to Black Dranzer, getting it back after Tyson's win; in G-Revolution he stays with the renamed PPB All Starz, clashes with the newcomer Rick Anderson, and mostly supports from the sidelines.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Tall and tan, with black hair combed over and shaved at the sides, usually in a red and white basketball strip trimmed in yellow. G-Revolution spikes the hair and bleaches it blond, drops the white from the strip, and adds an All Starz jacket, red fingerless gloves and a black band on his left knee.

Easy-going and free-spirited, and good enough to back it up. He takes Beyblade seriously without taking it heavily — the style and the flourishes are part of why he plays.

All Starz

Basketball flair carries Eddy through an early test of Ray at the research centre, and he brings the same showmanship back in the American final, evening the score after Steve's loss by taking Ray apart with a strategy lifted straight off the court. Russia strips the swagger away fast: set to face Gary in the exhibition against the White Tigers, he's swapped out for Emily instead, then drops his real match to Tala in seconds when Trypio runs straight into Wolborg. Joining the rest of the All Starz against Kai goes no better — Black Dranzer overwhelms the whole team and carries off Trypio along with everyone else's bit-beast, returned only once Tyson beats Tala for good.

Briefing

What to know

  • Plays basketball and channels that skill into a high, precision opening attack with his Beyblade Trypio.
  • Defeats Ray Kon of the Bladebreakers during the American Championships.
  • Loses quickly to Tala of the Demolition Boys in the Russian semi-finals.
  • Has his bit-beast stolen when Kai's Black Dranzer overwhelms the whole All Starz team; it is returned after Tyson beats Tala.
  • Resents new PPB All Starz recruit Rick Anderson and challenges him to have him removed from the team, ending in a draw.
  • Is eliminated off-screen from the 8-Man Battle Royale against White Tiger X.
  • Trypio's design and special attack reference how a basketball curves into a net, echoing real teams that use scorpions as mascots.
