special move

Rick Anderson is a New York street blader with a stereo on his shoulder and no patience for laboratory science, which makes him an odd recruit for Judy Tate's data-driven All Starz. He grew up certain that a strong enough blader has no use for a team. Max meets him on the street and ends up his tag partner after the PPB qualifier, an odd couple of pure defence and Rick's bulldozing Rock Bison. His contempt for Tyson and Daichi fuels several rows in the round robin, and it is losing — repeatedly to Kai, and finally to BBA Revolution — that teaches him raw power still needs partners. By the BEGA arc he is among the first rivals to answer the call, and he stands with the alliance through the Justice 5, still trading insults with everyone.

Beyblade G-Revolution (2003)

PPB All Starz

Judy pulls Rick off a New York street corner into the All Starz roster, and the team resists him hard enough that he has to fight Eddy just to keep his spot — a tie he calls a win before smashing his own blade rather than admit any bond to it. Early rounds go his way hard enough that he injures Claude and steamrolls Raul, but Kai ends his streak with a clean tactical beating, and the tag match alongside Max, Ray, and Lee against White Tiger X falls to BBA Revolution anyway. Losing repeatedly is what finally sells him on teammates over raw power, and by the BEGA arc he's standing with Lee to run off Crusher and Ming-Ming before the alliance's real fight even starts.
