Biography

Dunga is the Saint Shields' heavy hitter, a huge, short-tempered blader whose ape bit-beast Vortex Ape fights on brute spinning force. The fury is the fuel and also the flaw: once he has lost his head he is easy to beat. He is the first of the clan to face Kai and the two draw twice, a stalemate that eats at both of them, and he is the one who finally seals Driger, beating Ray at the height of the Zagart arc before losing it back at the amusement park. He picks fights easily, including a gala brawl with King. Like the rest of the clan he set out to take the four sacred beasts home to their village, on the belief that nobody outside it deserves one; once Ozuma rules otherwise his loyalty holds anyway. He goes out of the World Championship to Gordo of Team Zagart.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Tall, tanned and heavily built, with blond hair and green eyes. He wears the men's Saint Shields uniform with the sleeves torn off, trousers instead of shorts, and a grey bandanna.

The muscle, with a temper to match the strength. He runs on fury and pushes it into the Beyblade for power, which works until it does not — once he has lost his head he is straightforward to beat. Like all the Saint Shields he means to take the holy beasts back to the village they were raised in, on the belief that nobody outside it deserves to hold one.

Saint Shields

Storming Kai's prep school is how Dunga announces the Saint Shields' mission, and Kai comes out to meet him. Their first fight, after Dunga nearly costs Wyatt his life on a rooftop, ends in a tie that neither man can shake, and when Dunga comes back for a second try days later it's Wyatt — now wielding Cyber Dranzer — who beats him instead. He has better luck against Ray, sealing Driger away in an ancient rock at the height of the hunt, though the bit-beast comes back out once Ozuma decides the Bladebreakers deserve to keep what they have. His temper never really cools; he picks a brawl with King at a gala before the championship even starts, and once the tournament begins Gordo knocks him out easily.
