Wyatt Smithwright — Yuya Minami in Japan — is a classmate from Kai's school who idolises him and keeps asking to be taken seriously. Kai pulls him out of danger twice and then rejects him flatly as an apprentice. He borrows Dranzer without asking, loses it to Dunga and is humiliated, and in the end he goes to Doctor B, who trains him and fits him with a cyber bit-beast. The thing feeds on him. He wins his battle and collapses, and dies in Kai's arms; the English dub softens it into a permanent breakdown rather than a death. Kai's guilt runs through the rest of the season, and Wyatt returns only in flashback and as the hallucination that steadies him against Goki.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

A young boy, Wyatt dresses in a navy-green business suit finished with a red tie. His eyes are brown, matching his neatly kept brown hair.

Kai has no bigger fan than Wyatt, who follows him around whenever he gets the chance. He keeps trying to draw Kai's interest and strike up a real conversation with him.

Story by season

Where the seasons take them

Beyblade V-Force (2002)

Independent; briefly Team Psykick test subject

Kai's worship starts with a break-in: he tails his idol home from Whitney Prep, gets caught, and gawks at the trophies while Dunga's attack forces two rescues in one afternoon — pulled clear of Vortex Ape, then hauled back from the school roof. Finding a challenge note meant for Kai, he takes Dranzer without asking and answers it himself, hoping to earn a place at Kai's side; he's shoved off a ledge, saved again, and left no closer to being taken seriously once Kai's own duel with Dunga ends in a draw. Rejected when he asks to apprentice under Kai, he turns to Doctor B instead, who arms him with a cyber bit-beast that wins him one match against Dunga and then consumes him — he collapses and does not get up again.
