About This Part
Zephyr is a Balance-type Driver, released first by Takara Tomy and later by Hasbro as part of the Burst System. It debuted in Japan on January 23rd, 2016, inside the B-28 Booster featuring Neptune Armed, then reached western shelves through Hasbro's Roktavor and Nepstrius Dual Pack. The tip is a hollow plastic flat piece with a small diameter, close in shape to Metal Fight Beyblade's Hole Flat and slightly wider than Accel, sitting at a standard height and stamped with a stylized "Z." Its surface area produces aggressive movement that stays easy to control when launched at an angle, at speeds comparable to Accel and capable of reaching the tornado ridge, making it a solid choice for both mobile-stamina and attack-stamina balance combinations.
In Play
The plastic build that gives Zephyr its versatility is also its weak point, prone to losing a banking pattern in unbalanced attack setups, vulnerable to self-knock-outs from low friction, and liable to denting from disc-to-driver contact after a burst; the community sees it as a fallback for bladers who struggle to control rubber tips like Xtreme, Hunter and Jolt, recommending its successor Zephyr' where denting is a concern.
- Debuted in Japan inside the B-28 Booster, Neptune Armed Zephyr, on January 23rd, 2016.
- Debuted in western countries with Hasbro's Roktavor and Nepstrius Dual Pack.
- Despite its Hole Flat shape usually being classed as Attack, Zephyr ships badged as a Balance-type Driver.
- A Gold Ver. recolor was distributed in Japan through a Gold Driver Ticket Campaign, redeemed with a CoroCoro magazine ticket and a purchase receipt for Takara Tomy Beyblade Burst products.
- A Platinum Ver. recolor was distributed through a Platinum Driver Ticket Campaign, redeemed with a CoroCoro magazine ticket after spending up to 2000 yen on Takara Tomy Beyblade Burst products.
- A Limited Color recolor was obtainable by spending up to 2000 yen on Takara Tomy Beyblade Burst products at certain Japanese stores.
- A Red Ver. recolor was distributed through a Cho-Z Driver Get Campaign, redeemed after spending up to 2000 yen on Takara Tomy Beyblade Burst products.
The Competitive View
Moves aggressively around the stadium, gradually drifting to center as velocity drops; harder to hold a sliding pattern with than some tips. Outclassed by Xtreme in raw attack power but easier to control and offering more stamina, making it useful in Attack/Stamina hybrid combos. Cited Attack combos: Minoborus Heavy/Gravity/Knuckle Zephyr (noted tournament success); with Hasbro parts, Valtryek/Valtryek V2 Knuckle/Heavy Variable/Zephyr and Roktavor Heavy Zephyr/Variable. Cited Balance combos: Valkyrie Heavy/Gravity/Knuckle Zephyr (attack/stamina hybrid); with Hasbro parts, Valtryek V2 Spread Zephyr and Yegdrion Heavy/Knuckle Zephyr.
Verdict as the draft gives it: A viable, versatile part for every blader's collection, especially in Attack/Stamina hybrid roles, though outclassed by Xtreme for pure attack power.
