UpdatedBurst GT
Burst GT is the WBO's Limited-format ruleset for ranked Beyblade Burst tournaments, played with genuine Takara Tomy, Hasbro, and Youngtoys Burst tops on a recommended set of Beystadiums. It caps the top-end power creep of the line by cutting Superking, Dynamite Battle, and Burst Ultimate Layers, Forge Discs, and all Chassis from legal builds. Beyond equipment legality, it lays out how a match is judged: launch procedure, relaunch and review-call allowances, win-condition priority, and a long list of part-specific rulings for dual-spin, Phoenix, Bullet Driver, and deck-based combinations.

How you score
| Finish | Points | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Spin-out (Beyblade stops spinning) | 1 | Listed as a recommended point value; organizers can adjust it per event. |
| Knock-out (Beyblade exits the Beystadium) | 2 | Recommended value; knock-outs outrank a simultaneous spin-out per Win Condition Priority. |
| Burst (Beyblade comes apart) | 2 | Recommended value; a burst outranks every other simultaneous win condition. |
| Separation (a part detaches without a full burst) | 1 | Recommended value; scoring detail lives in the companion Match Types Guide. |
Match types
| Type | How it works | First to |
|---|---|---|
| 1on1 | A match fought with a single combination per Blader; dual-spin mode is locked once the combo is handed over for inspection. | — |
| P3C1 | A multi-Beyblade match type referenced alongside 1on1 for dual-spin mode locking; combo count and scoring are defined in the separate Match Types Guide. | — |
| 3on3 | A three-combination match type where dual-spin mode may be changed between Battles once submitted for inspection, capped at one dual-spin Layer configuration per deck. | — |
| 5G | A multi-combination match type grouped with 3on3 for dual-spin and deck-building rulings. | — |
| Deck Match Type | A format built from a Deck of combinations rather than single set combos; governs how Phoenix, alpha-series, and dual-spin parts may repeat or be swapped across a player's deck. | — |
Stadiums
| Stadium | Maker | Status | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beystadium Standard Type | Takara Tomy | recommended | One of four stadiums the rulebook recommends for ranked play. |
| Dash Beystadium | Takara Tomy | recommended | Recommended stadium option. |
| Beystadium DB Standard Type | Takara Tomy | recommended | Recommended stadium option. |
| Elite Champions Beystadium | Hasbro Pro Series | recommended | Recommended stadium option; illustrated in the Gameplay Appendix's zone diagram. |
| Any stadium with a cracked playing surface | prohibited | Cracks in the playing surface make a stadium illegal for WBO play; cracks on outer walls are fine once taped underneath. |
Building and launching
Beyblades and parts
- A deck-based match may not repeat the same Layer, Layer Component, Disc, Disc Frame, Driver, or Driver Attachment across its combinations, with named exceptions for Level Chips, God Chips, and Chip Cores which may be reused freely.
- A deck cannot mix a Hasbro and a Takara Tomy version of the same part, though listed Driver variants (Regular/Dash/Metal/High/Bearing/SlingShock/HyperSphere/SpeedStorm/QuadDrive/Quadstrike) may coexist as long as no single variant repeats.
- A dual-spin Layer or Layer Base must have its mode locked in before inspection for 1on1, P3C1, and Deck matches; 3on3 and 5G allow only one dual-spin configuration per deck, with mode changes between Battles.
- Phoenix-family combinations (Dead/Perfect/Unperfect/Revive/P4) may not swap their Layer Body or Armor mid-match, and a Deck build cannot repeat any of their Body or Armor pieces.
- Left αpollos/Right αrtemis/αeclipse combos may include both αpollos and αrtemis together plus one αeclipse side (not both) inside a Deck, with disassembly allowed between Battles to switch among the player's chosen configurations.
- duo αpollos/αrtemis/αeclipse combos may appear in any number and combination inside a Deck under the same disassembly-to-switch rule.
- Removable attachments (+X, +Z, Disc Frames, Armor Tips, Level Chips, Union Swords, Infinite Sword, Infinite Shield, Zest Armor) can be added or pulled between Battles as a mode change; other attachments like Xtend+ Chips or Evolution Gears are locked in once inspected.
- Sticker placement is restricted to each part's printed guide (Layer sticker sheet, outer-ring star stickers on a Disc, the small lettered center on a Driver), plus one extra identifying star sticker on a Layer top or Driver bottom rim.
- Only stickers from genuine Hasbro/Takara Tomy releases (or licensed prints such as ensky or CoroCoro inserts) are legal; homemade stickers must be swapped out or the combo forfeits the match.
- A thin protective coat of clear nail polish on stickers is fine, but enough to noticeably change the part's weight must be removed or the combo forfeits the match.
- Parts may be marked with compliant stickers or minor pen dots/lines to track orientation after a burst or to tell a mirrored double-burst apart, but not for decorative artwork.
- Grips, accessories, and launcher paint jobs can be fully customized cosmetically as long as they don't change the launcher's mechanical performance or interfere with the opponent's launch.
Launchers
- Light Launcher / Light Launcher L with Standard Winder: 5 rotations.
- Light Launcher / Light Launcher L with Long Winder: 6 rotations.
- Light Launcher / Light Launcher L with Phoenix Winder: 7 rotations.
- Light Launcher LR: 5 rotations.
- BeyLauncher / BeyLauncher L: 7 rotations.
- Long BeyLauncher / BeyLauncher L: 8.5 rotations.
- BeyLauncher Speed Ver.: 9 rotations.
- BeyLauncher Heavy Ver.: 6.5 rotations.
- BeyLauncher LR: 7.5 rotations.
- Long BeyLauncher LR: 10 rotations.
- Sword Launcher: 5.5 rotations regular pull, 6.5 rotations on a power pull.
- Digital Sword Launcher: 8 rotations.
- Proto/Entry Launcher: 3.5 rotations.
- Hasbro Regular/Supergrip Launcher, Short Winder: 5 rotations.
- Hasbro Regular/Supergrip Launcher, Long Winder: 5.5 to 6 rotations.
- Every launcher's actual rotation count must land within 0.5 rotations of its listed figure to stay legal.
- Worn launcher components may be swapped for an identical replacement part from another launcher of the same name.
- A BeyLauncher with a broken handle can still be used.
Bans, limits and conditions
| Part or practice | Rule | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Superking, Dynamite Battle, and Burst Ultimate System Layers (Takara Tomy and Hasbro Pro Series) | banned | Cut to keep the Limited-format Burst GT metagame in check. |
| Superking, Dynamite Battle, and Burst Ultimate Forge Discs (Takara Tomy) | banned | Same Limited-format power-creep cut as the Layers. |
| All Chassis (Takara Tomy and Hasbro Pro Series) | banned | Chassis parts are excluded entirely from Burst GT. |
| Beyblade Micros, Rip Fire Beyblades, Digital Control Beyblades, Mugen and Mugen L Drivers, and non-mainline sideline/promo tops | banned | Listed under Product Restrictions as incompatible with mainline Burst play. |
| Hasbro Energy Layers paired with Takara Tomy Drivers, or Takara Tomy Layers paired with Hasbro Performance Tips | banned | Cross-brand pairing is illegal; a Hasbro Layer once used on a Takara Tomy Driver is treated as damaged/broken afterward. |
| Painted or coated parts that change performance | banned | Foreign-substance modification beyond the explicitly allowed cosmetic methods carries a disqualification and possible future event ban. |
| Homemade or third-party stickers | conditional | Must be swapped for a clean copy of the same part on judge request, or the combo takes a match loss. |
| Excess nail polish on stickers | conditional | A thin protective coat is fine; enough to shift the part's weight must be removed or the combo takes a match loss. |
| Layers that accept a God Chip but are run without one | banned | Filed under Using No God Chip: the chip is mandatory when the slot exists. |
| Stadiums with cracks in the playing surface | banned | Outer-wall cracks are fine if taped underneath; playing-surface cracks make the stadium illegal for WBO play. |
| Broken Beyblade or launcher parts | conditional | Illegal to use unless the rulebook explicitly carves out an exception; see Breakage During Play for the in-match procedure. |
| Driver tips worn to the point a structural part (e.g. exposed screws, or the plastic casing on a part like Jolt) becomes the primary contact point, or tips reshaped by sanding, launching on concrete, or similar means outside normal use | banned | Filed under Driver Wear Regulations; a fresh Driver or one with normal launch wear stays legal even if that wear changes performance. |
| Hasbro Pro Series Layers/Drivers combined with regular (non-Pro-Series) Hasbro Burst Layers/Drivers | banned | Filed under Hasbro Pro Series rulings; Pro Series parts may still be combined with Takara Tomy Layers/Drivers. |
A match, step by step
- Bladers settle which side of the Beystadium they take by a fair random method, and that side holds for the whole Match.
- Both Bladers turn away and pick their Beyblade(s) in secret within a 3-minute window, with the Match Type in use setting how many combos to pick.
- Coaching or equipment help is allowed only until a Blader declares themselves "set" and turns their gear over for the judge to inspect.
- Once set, a Blader locks in their equipment, spin direction is announced to both the opponent and the judge, and neither side may swap gear for the rest of the Match.
- The judge calls "3-2-1 Go Shoot!"; both Bladers launch simultaneously, and the Battle formally starts once both tops have touched the stadium floor at least once.
- A legal launch enters the Launch Area with the top released under 20cm above the floor, launcher kept on the Blader's own KO-half, and no mid-air contact with the opponent's top.
- A Blader may call one relaunch (voiding the Battle outright) or one review call (checked on video after the Battle ends) per Battle for a valid reason, requested during or right after the countdown.
- The judge determines the winner using Win Condition Priority (Burst beats Knock-Out beats Spin-Out) and announces it; neither Blader touches their top until that call is made.
- A Blader who disputes a ruling may raise it but must accept the judge's call in the moment, with further disputes escalated by email before results are locked into the rankings.
Penalties
- Deliberately altering equipment performance through banned foreign substances results in disqualification and a possible ban from future Events.
- Running homemade/third-party stickers or an over-heavy nail-polish coat that can't be corrected on the spot results in a match loss for that combo.
- A part or launcher that breaks during a Battle voids that Battle; failing to produce an identical replacement means losing the Match, and if both sides can't replace broken gear the Match resets to the selection phase.
- Breaking or trying to get around the Event Code of Conduct (taunting, throwing a match, disrupting others, touching others' equipment without permission) can get a Blader disqualified and banned from future Events.
- A Match result is only reversed after a formal dispute if evidence proves a judge colluded to fix that result.
Optional rules an organiser may add
| Rule | Effect |

Words the rulebook uses
- Blader
- A competitor in a WBO-run Beyblade Match.
- Battle
- One launch-to-finish exchange within a Match; a Match can be made of several Battles depending on scoring needed.
- Beystadium / Stadium
- The dish the tops battle in, divided into the Battle Zone and Over Zones.
- Battle Zone
- The stadium floor and airspace above it, bounded by the walls and any exits.
- Over Zone
- An exit, pocket, or covered gap in a stadium that a top can be knocked into or through.
- Launch Area
- The part of the stadium floor a Beyblade must legally enter on launch, including sloped entry ramps on stadiums that have them.
- Knocked-Out
- A top has left the Battle Zone for good or struck a foreign object outside an Over Zone's floor.
- Spinning
- A top still visibly rotating in its launched direction; once it stops, the Battle is over even if it later starts moving again.
- Set
- The point at which a Blader has committed to their equipment for the Match and presented it to the judge for inspection.
- Separation
- A part or attachment coming loose from a combination without the combination fully bursting apart.
- Deck
- The set of combinations a player brings to a multi-Beyblade Match Type, subject to the part-repetition rules.
Section by section, in our words
The document's outline
How to Win
- A Match is won by reaching a points target of 3 to 5 set by the Match Type in play.
- Points come from four events: the opponent's top spinning out, exiting the stadium, bursting, or having a part separate.
- The rulebook lists 1/2/2/1 points respectively for those four events as recommended defaults.
- Exact point allocations for each Match Type live in the companion Match Types Guide, not this document.
Beyblade Selection
- Bladers pick sides fairly, then turn their backs to choose their combo(s) in secret within 3 minutes.
- Outside coaching or equipment help is allowed during selection, but a Blader who suspects help was given can ask and may earn extra selection time.
- Declaring "set" and handing the top and launcher to the judge for inspection ends the help window and locks equipment for the Match.
- Bladers must state their spin direction aloud once set, and launches must match the direction their launcher supports.
- Leaving the stadium area, turning around early, spying on the opponent's pick, or swapping gear after declaring set are all forbidden during this phase.
Launching
- The Battle starts on the judge's "3-2-1 Go Shoot!" call, once both tops have touched the stadium floor at least once.
- Launches must be simultaneous on the word "shoot," entering the Launch Area with the top released less than 20cm above the floor.
- Launchers stay on the Blader's own KO-half of the stadium, and mid-air contact with the opponent's top before both have touched down is not allowed.
- The stadium itself may not be touched by players; adjustments go through a judge.
- Winder-based launchers must be fired by pulling the winder out, not pushing it in.
Relaunching
- An obstructed or accidentally weakened launch can be challenged with a relaunch request, which immediately voids that Battle.
- A review call, available only where video is set up, doesn't void the Battle but has the judge check footage afterward to confirm or overturn the result.
- Typical relaunch grounds are launcher malfunction or being bumped by a person; typical review grounds are early contact or suspected outside interference.
- Each Blader gets one relaunch or review call per Battle by right, though a judge can grant more on their own judgment.
- Requests must come during the countdown or right after it, and a judge may refuse one they consider unfounded.
Battle Results
- Nobody touches their top after a Battle until the judge has called the winner.
- Players and spectators must hold their own opinion on the outcome until the judge has spoken.
Optional Rules
- The WBO maintains a menu of approved rule and banlist tweaks for ranked play, meant to flex with different community preferences.
- Whether any of these are active for a given event is posted on that event's page.
- The full catalogue of available tweaks sits in a separate Optional Rules Guide, not in this document.
Legal Equipment
- Only genuine Beyblade Burst tops from Takara Tomy, Hasbro, and Youngtoys are usable in ranked play.
- Genuine accessories and stadiums are recommended though not the only legal choice.
- Four named stadiums are recommended: Beystadium Standard Type, Dash Beystadium, and Beystadium DB Standard Type from Takara Tomy, plus the Hasbro Pro Series Elite Champions Beystadium.
Banned Parts
- Burst GT operates as a Limited format, cutting a chunk of the newest parts to keep the format balanced.
- Every Superking, Dynamite Battle, and Burst Ultimate System Layer from both Takara Tomy and Hasbro Pro Series is banned.
- Every Superking, Dynamite Battle, and Burst Ultimate Forge Disc from Takara Tomy is banned.
- All Chassis parts, from either brand, are banned outright.
Driver Wear Regulations
- A brand-new Driver, or one whose tip is worn but still the primary contact point, is legal even if that wear changes how it plays.
- A Driver becomes illegal once the tip wears through to expose the plastic casing or screws as the primary contact point.
- Tips deliberately reshaped by means other than normal launching, such as sanding or launching on concrete, are illegal.
Additional Equipment Regulations
- Foreign substances that alter performance are banned outside the explicitly permitted cosmetic methods, and intentional illegal modification is a disqualification offense.
- Legal physical modification only comes from battling, launching into a stadium, assembling parts meant to go together, or hand-adjusting parts with built-in give; accidental damage may still pass with judge approval.
- Broken parts are illegal unless this rulebook says otherwise, with the Breakage During Play appendix covering in-match handling.
- Hasbro Energy Layers cannot pair with Takara Tomy Drivers and vice versa; Hasbro Pro Series parts count as Takara Tomy-equivalent for this rule, and any Hasbro Layer once run on a Takara Tomy Driver is treated as damaged going forward.
- Stickers must sit only where each part's printed sticker guide allows, with one extra identification sticker permitted per top; only genuine or licensed stickers are usable, and a judge can force a swap or hand out a match loss for homemade ones.
- Cracked stadium playing surfaces are illegal; cracked outer walls are fine once taped from underneath.
- Layers built to take a God Chip must be run with one.
- Beyblade Micros, Rip Fire, Digital Control tops, the Mugen/Mugen L Drivers, and other non-mainline promotional products are excluded.
- A light coat of clear nail polish to protect stickers is fine unless it meaningfully adds weight, in which case it must be removed or the combo takes a match loss.
- Parts can be marked with compliant stickers or small pen marks to track orientation or tell apart a double burst, but not for decorative art; any other marking counts as an illegal foreign substance.
- Grips, accessories, and launcher paint can be freely customized cosmetically as long as function, opponent access, and safety aren't affected.
- Worn launcher components, Layer components, and BeyLauncher handles can be swapped for identical replacement parts even if broken.
Launcher Regulations
- Each named launcher/winder combination has a listed expected rotation count, and real performance must stay within 0.5 rotations of that number.
- Rotation counts range from 3.5 (Proto/Entry Launcher) up to 10 (Long BeyLauncher LR).
- The Sword Launcher and Hasbro Long Winder combo both list a small range rather than one fixed number, depending on pull style.
Beyblade/Part-Specific Rulings
- Gatinko Layers can't be taken apart and rebuilt mid-Match to swap parts or modes.
- Hasbro Pro Series Layers/Drivers can't mix with regular Hasbro Burst Layers/Drivers, but can mix with Takara Tomy Layers/Drivers.
- Dual-spin Layers/Layer Bases lock their mode before inspection in 1on1, P3C1, and Deck matches, while 3on3/5G decks cap dual-spin use at one configuration with between-Battle mode changes allowed.
- Phoenix-family parts (Dead/Perfect/Unperfect/Revive, plus P4) can't have their armor picked up mid-Battle, keep hits credited to the whole combination even once the armor detaches, must be reattached after each Battle, can't swap Body/Armor mid-Match, can't repeat Body/Armor pieces within a Deck, and can't mix Hasbro and Takara Tomy Phoenix pieces.
- The Bullet Driver's two pieces (Driver Body and the detachable Bullet) must both be assembled before play; a top loses immediately if its top half stops, is KO'd, or bursts, even while the Bullet is still active in the stadium.
- The 12 Core Disc must be paired with a Frame.
- αpollos/αrtemis/αeclipse-family Layers lock their configuration in a regular first-stage Match, but Deck Match Types allow specific combinations (αpollos with αrtemis, plus one side of αeclipse) with mid-Battle disassembly to switch between a player's chosen configurations, and the same applies to Hasbro's Fusion αether.
- duo αpollos/αrtemis/αeclipse configurations may appear in any number within a Deck, again switchable by disassembly between Battles.
- Removable attachments like +X, +Z, Disc Frames, Armor Tips, Level Chips, and the named Sword/Shield/Armor pieces can be added or removed between Battles as a mode change, but other attachments such as Xtend+ Chips or Evolution Gears lock in once inspected, and one coming off mid-Battle counts as a Separation.
Event Code of Conduct
- WBO Events run on volunteer effort for players of every age, expected to play fair, show sportsmanship, and act with integrity.
- Bladers should stay honest with judges, check before doing anything rule-adjacent, treat others with respect, and help newcomers learn.
- Taunting, throwing a match, disrupting a Match in progress, or touching another Blader's equipment without permission are all forbidden.
- Breaking or dodging these rules can get a Blader disqualified by the host and possibly banned from future Events.
If you disagree with a judge's decision ...
- A Blader can dispute a call in the moment but must still accept the judge's ruling on the spot.
- Lingering disagreement gets documented and emailed to events@worldbeyblade.org for review.
- Disputes over a specific Match result must be filed before that result is entered into the rankings.
- A result only gets voided if submitted evidence shows it should have gone the other way.
- A winner is only reversed outright if it's proven a judge colluded to fix the outcome.
Gameplay Appendix
- The Play Area is the whole stadium, split into the Battle Zone (floor and space bounded by walls/exits) and Over Zones (exits, pockets, or areas under a cover with no floor beneath).
- The Launch Area is the floor a top must land in on launch, including sloped entry ramps on stadiums built with them.
- A top is Knocked-Out once it leaves the Battle Zone for good or hits a foreign object outside an Over Zone's floor; a top stuck on a Battle Zone element still counts as in-play.
- A top counts as Spinning as long as its top half visibly turns in its launch direction; once stopped, the Battle is over even if it later starts moving again.
- Win Condition Priority runs Burst above Knock-Out above Spin-Out, resolving any simultaneous double-outcome collision in that order.
- A part or launcher breaking mid-Battle or mid-launch voids that Battle; the owner must supply an identical replacement or lose the Match, and a double break with no replacements resets the Match to selection.
- "Identical" replacement parts only need to share a name, not color or which release they came from.
- Multi-mode parts can change mode any time before a Match or between Battles, with simultaneous changes done in secret by both players, and gimmick modes must reset after each Battle.
- Multi-Beyblade Match Types (P3C1, 3on3, 5G, Deck) forbid repeating Layers, Layer Components, Discs, Disc Frames, Drivers, Driver Attachments, or Evolution Gears across combos, forbid mixing Hasbro/Takara Tomy versions of a part, but explicitly allow repeating Level Chips, God Chips, and Chip Cores, plus mixing certain Driver/Disc variant families.
- Launchers and accessories for these Match Types must be locked in during deck building.
Photography Policy
- Attending a WBO Event as organizer, participant, or spectator means accepting the possibility of being photographed or filmed by staff or other attendees.
- A person who wants to avoid appearing on camera can ask the host to pass that along, though full exclusion can't be guaranteed.
- Anyone shooting photo or video at an event should do so respectfully and stop on request.
Notes on this digest
- The exact point values per win condition (1/2/2/1 for spin-out/knock-out/burst/separation) are marked "Recommended" in the source rather than fixed, with the real per-Match-Type numbers deferred to the separate Match Types Guide, which was not part of this capture.
- Match Type names (1on1, P3C1, 3on3, 5G, Deck Match Type) are used throughout this rulebook but are only defined in detail in the external Match Types Guide.
- The Optional Rules referenced here are catalogued in a separate Optional Rules Guide not included in this capture, and vary event to event.
- Two stadium-figure captions in the Gameplay Appendix ("Burst Stadium Standard Type" and "Hasbro Pro Series Elite Champions Stadium") name the same stadiums as the Legal Equipment section under slightly different wording.
