About This Part
Nothing is a driver with a low-angled, spring-loaded cone tip meant to cushion hard landings from launch and prevent an accidental self-knock-out. Takara Tomy released it in Japan on April 29th, 2017 with the B-79 Starter, Drain Fafnir 8 Nothing, and Hasbro followed with a western SwitchStrike release, Drain Fafnir F3 8 Nothing. Hasbro's version shortens the spring-loaded tip slightly to cut down on wobble.
In Play
The spring's give lets the tip tilt, which hurts stability, and the cone's raised lip creates a second contact point once it tips over, draining stamina the way older wide-defence tips from the Metal Fight era did; the community rates both the Takara Tomy and Hasbro versions as outclassed for stamina by Revolve and Atomic and keeps them for a collection.
- Debuted in Japan on April 29th, 2017 with the B-79 Starter, Drain Fafnir 8 Nothing.
- Released in western markets by Hasbro as the SwitchStrike Starter Pack, Drain Fafnir F3 8 Nothing, with a shortened spring-loaded tip.
The Competitive View
Nothing reduces the odds of a self-knockout from a mis-launch and eases stamina loss under heavy discs, but its instability and secondary contact point still leave its stamina behind tips like Revolve and Yielding.
Verdict as the draft gives it: Outclassed by Revolve and Yielding; suitable for collection purposes only.
