About This Part
Needle is a driver with a studded ball tip at standard height, ringed by four small brake tabs, similar in layout to the Defense driver. Takara Tomy released it in Japan on December 26th, 2015 with the B-24 Random Booster Vol. 2, and Hasbro brought it to western markets in the Dark Doomscizor D2 and Über Unicrest U2 Dual Pack. The studs raise friction against the stadium floor and the tabs act as brakes, both meant to resist knock-outs.
In Play
Fresh copies roam the stadium briefly like an attack tip before settling into a stamina-conserving spin on a few studs, switching to higher-friction knock-out defence when struck; worn copies lose the studs' texture and behave closer to a Defense tip with better stamina. It also sees use in the stationary attack build Sieg Xcalibur 0/1/2/4/5/7 Cross/Glaive Needle, where its early movement adds offence and its brake tabs help resist recoil-driven self-knock-outs. The community treats it as outclassed by tips like Atomic but still worth owning for its mix of tricks.
- Debuted in Japan on December 26th, 2015 with the B-24 Random Booster Vol. 2.
- Released in western markets by Hasbro as the Dark Doomscizor D2 and Über Unicrest U2 Dual Pack.
- A red recolour was offered through a Cho-Z Driver Get Campaign in Japan.
- The red-coloured Needle driver was a reward in a Cho-Z Driver Get Campaign, obtainable by spending up to 2000 yen on Takara Tomy Beyblade Burst products in Japan.
The Competitive View
Needle plays like a scaled-down Jog Ball, giving brief attack-style movement before settling in the center, and is used in the Valtryek Heavy/Gravity Needle build where it lets the layer's own attack finish battles while holding position defensively.
Verdict as the draft gives it: Outclassed by Defense, Revolve and Zephyr overall, but still finds occasional competitive use in attack/defense hybrid combinations.
- Debuted B-24 01 Evil-eye Wing Needle (Random Booster Vol. 2), December 28, 2015, translucent green
- Other releases: B-24 05 Wyvern Central Needle (translucent blue-green), B-24 08 Valkyrie Oval Needle (translucent turquoise/yellow), B-56 Unlock Unicorn Down Needle, B-67 Nova Neptune Quarter Needle (Random Booster Vol. 5)
