About This Part
Accel is a Driver Takara Tomy released for the Burst System, debuting in Japan on July 18th, 2015 with the B-01 DX Starter Valkyrie Wing Accel and reaching western shelves through Hasbro's Valtryek and Unicrest Dual Pack. It is a plastic flat tip of small diameter at standard height, marked on top with a stylized letter A, and its solid build resists the wear that eventually degrades Drivers such as Xtreme.
In Play
Accel sits between Blow and Xtreme in speed and suits both Mobile Stamina and Attack/Stamina Balance builds, though its plastic construction lets Attack combinations lose their banking pattern easily and its low friction leaves it open to self-knockouts; Takara Tomy's version was once a top Mobile Stamina choice before left-spin Beyblades made that style obsolete, while Hasbro's rounder release settles toward the centre faster and is now considered a piece for collectors only.
- Released by Takara Tomy for the Burst System.
- Debuted in Japan on July 18th, 2015 with the B-01 DX Starter Valkyrie Wing Accel.
- Debuted in western countries with Hasbro's Valtryek and Unicrest Dual Pack.
- The first Attack Type Driver released in the Beyblade Burst toyline.
- A packaging error on the B-01 release mistranslated the Driver's name as "Accele".
- A gold recolor of Accel was obtainable in Japan through a Gold Driver Ticket Campaign redeemed with a CoroCoro magazine ticket and a purchase receipt.
- A red recolor of Accel was obtainable in Japan through a Red Driver Campaign tied to a spending threshold on Takara Tomy Beyblade Burst products.
The Competitive View
As a standard flat tip it drives aggressive movement around the stadium and attacks opposing Beys; uncontrolled, it catches the Tornado Ridge and circles rapidly before drifting toward center as spin slows, while a Sliding Shoot launch can maintain a flower pattern crossing the center repeatedly at high spin velocity. Xtreme's release made it largely obsolete for pure Attack -- Accel has more stamina and is easier to control fresh out of the box, but less speed and power than Xtreme or Assault. Its remaining competitive niches: Mobile Defense hybrids (e.g., Wyvern Heavy Accel), where its mobility and lower stadium friction let a Defense type dodge an Attack type's flower pattern and bounce off hits rather than absorb them, reducing Burst Finishes; and Staller builds (e.g., Deathscyther Spread/Ring Accel), where its low friction and best-in-class stamina among aggressive drivers help it avoid contact.
Verdict as the draft gives it: Outclassed by Xtreme for pure Attack, but still considered essential for competitive players via Mobile Defense and Staller uses.
