About This Part

Absorb is a Driver Takara Tomy released for the Cho-Z Layer System, first sold in Japan on September 22nd, 2018 with the B-122 Starter Geist Fafnir 8' Absorb, and later brought west through Hasbro's Elite Champions Pro Set. It pairs a spring-loaded sharp tip with a free-spinning ring around it, landing somewhere between the Revolve and Nothing designs. Depressing the tip fully retracts the point and locks the ring flat for a brief burst of aggressive movement, while normally the sharp point keeps friction low for strong Stamina and resistance to Bursting.

In Play

The wide ring gives Absorb strong Precession time and Spin-Equalization against opposite-spin opponents, putting it on par with Revolve though still behind Eternal and Bearing; the community rates it a strong choice in Stamina and Spin-Equalization builds and calls it a worthwhile addition to any collection.

  • Released by Takara Tomy for the Burst System and Cho-Z Layer System.
  • Debuted in Japan on September 22nd, 2018 with the B-122 Starter Geist Fafnir 8' Absorb.
  • Debuted in western countries with Hasbro's Elite Champions Pro Set.

The Competitive View

The sharp, low-friction tip is meant to give high stamina and burst resistance, while the wide, loose free-spinning ring (wider and looser than Revolve's) adds high precession time and spin-equalization potential.

  • Spring-loaded tip mechanism
  • Product: B-122 Geist Fafnir 8' Absorb (translucent orange)
  • Two conflicting mechanical descriptions are on record
