Description

Advance Guardian is a Defense Type Beyblade from the Hard Metal System's Advance line, made up of a Hard Metal Emblem bit protector, Advance Defenser attack ring, Circle Heavy weight disk and Grip Sharp Core running core. Unlike its Advance-series stablemates, it is judged to have fallen behind the competitive curve fairly quickly.

In play and in the story

Considered to carry largely outdated parts: the Advance Defenser ring offers a smash-style attack but is outclassed by other rings, and the Grip Sharp Core running core is likewise outclassed by newer parts such as Bearing Core 2, leaving it with little competitive value.

  • Released in Japan on April 24th, 2004.
  • Issued in combat-green and combat-yellow/brown color variants through HMS Random Booster ACT 4.

The competitive view

Advance Guardian (item MA-11) is a Hard Metal System Defense-type Beyblade whose parts are described as largely outdated, including its Bit Protector, Attack Ring, Weight Disk and Running Core, and featuring an unusual 'Re-bounder' defensive technique enabled by its sharp rubber-tipped Running Core.

Advance Defenser's rollers do little for defense and its wing slopes give only minor Upper Attack, though it can serve in a Smash Attack build; Grip Sharp Core is outclassed for Defense but can enable a niche 'Re-bounder' tactic against Smash Attackers, using Newton's third law to redirect the opponent's own force back at it -- unreliable, especially in large stadiums, and best used early in a match while the tip is in good condition.

Verdict as the draft gives it: The whole Beyblade is judged good for collecting only, not recommended for competitive use, since Advance Defenser is outclassed as an Attack Ring and Grip Sharp Core is outclassed by parts like Bearing Core 2.

  • Bit Protector: Heavy Metal Emblem (first-mold Bit Protector)
  • Attack Ring: Advance Defenser, 18 grams, has two metal 'rollers' and two shallow-sloped wings
  • Weight Disk: Circle Heavy (see Circle Heavy)
  • Running Core: Grip Sharp Core, 3 grams
  • Other versions: HMS Random Booster 4 (Combat Green); HMS Random Booster 4 (Combat Yellow)
