Jim

Biography

Jim is the smallest and most technical of Kane's group — he can read an opponent's launch speed and attack pattern just by watching — which makes him the natural pilot for Cyber Draciel, the copy of Max's turtle. He is the first of Psykick's recruits to bond with a cyber bit-beast and the only one to beat a Bladebreaker: his two-episode battle with Max on the Battle Tower's first floor ends with Draciel torn away from its owner, a genuine shock for the series and the setup for Max's later redemption. The confidence is thinner than it looks — he breaks down in tears when King and Queen destroy his Beyblade — and by the end of the season he is back among friends.

Jim has a sharp tactical mind, capable of reading a Beyblade's RPM rating and a blader's attack pattern just from watching a battle, and he knows it well enough to come across as cocky about it. That intelligence doesn't translate into self-assurance, though — when King and Queen destroy his Beyblade, he breaks down and runs to the table in tears, betraying real confidence issues underneath the bravado.
