Biography

Garland comes from a family of champion athletes and treats Beyblade as one more discipline to master, folding martial arts into a style of controlled, punishing strikes behind the bit-beast Apollon. He captains BEGA's Justice Five and is its most honourable member, which does not stop him putting Tala in hospital — and a coma — when the Blitzkrieg Boys' captain confronts Boris. It haunts him. Seeing what a real team looks like in Tyson starts him questioning BEGA's methods; his own Justice 5 match against Tyson is a genuine duel of principles, and he loses it and respects the effort. Afterwards he stops Ming-Ming and Crusher sabotaging Tyson's Beyblade, and turns on Boris outright.

Appearance

What They Look Like

Tall and well-muscled, Garland wears his silver hair long in a ponytail, with purple eyes and what looks like a bindi on his forehead. His outfit pairs a sleeveless teal turtleneck with black trousers, split by a double brown belt, and finishes with long orange fingerless gloves lined in black and black shoes.

Beyblade G-Revolution (2003)

BEGA League / Justice Five (captain)

Garland announces BEGA's arrival by taking out Bryan and Spencer in a single match, then goes further against Tala, folding real martial arts strikes into the beybattle until the Blitzkrieg Boys' captain ends up hospitalized. His fight with Tyson in the Justice 5 is different: fighting by his family's rigid principles instead of his own finally catches up with him, and though Tyson beats him, Garland walks away glad to have had a real contest for once. Watching Tyson's team fight for each other rather than for a system starts him questioning whether BEGA is anything like that, and once he sees how far Boris will go to win, he helps stop Ming-Ming and Crusher from sabotaging Tyson's Beyblade and turns openly against his own coach's methods.
