About This Part
Semi-Defense, or SD, is a Takara Tomy Performance Tip built with a sharper point than plain Defense, in the same way Semi-Flat sharpens the Flat tip. Takara Tomy's own listing describes it as a well-balanced tip that pairs staying power with survival, and testing after its release found it overtook Defense as the strongest stamina-focused Bottom of its day. It cannot wobble as widely as Defense, so a blader chasing pure survival on a Defense build might still favour plain Defense or the wider Wide Defense over it.
In Play
Community testing shows the choice between Semi-Defense and Wide Defense often comes down to preference, since the two are closely matched: Wide Defense copes with more situations by taking hits better, while Semi-Defense can knock over a wobbling Wide Defense build before it topples on its own.
