About This Part

Rubber Ball, or RB, is a Takara Tomy Performance Tip built for the 4D System, first sold in Japan on August 6, 2011 with the BB-116 Random Booster Vol. 8 Jade Jupiter and later issued by Hasbro in the BB-116-FX Spark FX Jade Jupiter starter in 2013. As its name says, it is a rubber Ball tip, and the widest one made in rubber to date. That width gives it strong grip on the stadium surface, letting it absorb hard hits from Attack-type opponents while still keeping some of a Ball tip's rolling motion around the stadium's centre.

In Play

It matches or beats similar rubber Defense tips such as Rubber Spike and Rubber Defense Flat against direct attacks, but its large surface area also burns stamina fast, making it a poor stamina choice and easier to knock out than Rubber Spike over a long match; once worn smooth, it starts behaving more like a plain Flat tip.

  • Debuted in Japan on August 6, 2011 with BB-116 Random Booster Vol. 8 Jade Jupiter.
  • Reached the West through Hasbro's BB-116-FX Spark FX Starter Pack Jade Jupiter S130RB in 2013.
  • Its function and shape carry through to the Bite and Keep tips and their variants in the Burst Series.
