About This Part

Takara Tomy's Revive Phoenix arrived in Japan on July 7th, 2018 through the B-117 Starter carrying the 10 Friction finish, one of the flagship Defense Layers of the Cho-Z Layer System. A bird sits at its centre with four feathered blades forming wings around it, naming the mythical immortal bird the piece is built after, and Cho-Z metal lines the wingtips and rings the middle, giving it more mass than most God Layers before it. Its signature gimmick lets it burst a second time: the outer Revive Armor can shed away under impact, leaving the smoother Tornado Wyvern-style core spinning with less recoil, though the shed armor stays in the stadium and can foul an opponent's tip and banking.

In Play

That heavy build, working double-burst gimmick and low-recoil shape make it a top choice for defensive combinations, and a Level Chip fixed underneath offsets the slight imbalance shared by other Cho-Z Layers; paired with the 0/2/4/5/7/10 Disc and Cross/Glaive Atomic/Orbit it delivers strong knock-out and burst resistance, with Atomic and the Cross/Glaive Frame together adding a life-after-death effect. With stamina that outpaces Emperor Forneus, the community rates it as the strongest right-spin Defense Layer available at the time, calling it essential for a competitive collection.

  • Debuted in Japan on July 7th, 2018 with the B-117 Starter, Revive Phoenix 10 Friction.
  • The name comes from the phoenix of Greek myth, a bird said to burn away and be reborn from its own ashes.
  • At the time of its release it ranked as the second-heaviest Layer made, behind only Nightmare Longinus.

The Competitive View

The detachable perimeter parries early hits like Tornado Wyvern's free-spinning layer, and once it disconnects the exposed core has less recoil, though the discarded ring piece left in the stadium can interfere with either blader's tip and banking pattern; like other Super-Z layers it is unbalanced, raising burst risk and draining stamina unless offset with a Level Chip.

  • Metal lines the wing tips and center
  • Detachable outer wing perimeter with weaker teeth than the core's medium teeth
  • Cross-compatible with a Dead Phoenix armor swap, available via B-131 Booster Dead Phoenix.0.At, for added weight
