About This Part
Takara Tomy released Emperor Forneus, a Layer for the Burst System's Cho-Z Layer System, in Japan on March 17th, 2018 through the B-106 booster Emperor Forneus 0 Yard. Twelve counter-clockwise blades give it a low-recoil round profile, and two shark heads running from the rim to the centre depict Forneus, a sea-monster demon ranked a Great Marquis of Hell. The Cho-Z line's metal sits inside those shark details, adding enough mass to make the part heavier than most God Layers.
In Play
That extra weight centralizes toward the middle, resisting movement and boosting Defense, though the warped blades still generate recoil and can destabilize an opponent, and the concentrated mass hurts Stamina; being unbalanced also raises Burst risk, an issue a Level Chip underneath can offset. Once a top Defense choice - notably in the combination Emperor Forneus 0/2/4/5/7/10 Cross/Glaive/Bump Atomic/Orbit - it has since been overtaken by Archer Hercules, Hell Salamander and Revive Phoenix, though the community still calls it a worthwhile pickup rather than a must-have.
- Debuted in Japan on March 17th, 2018 through the B-106 booster Emperor Forneus 0 Yard
The Competitive View
The warped blades create recoil comparable to Nova Neptune or Psychic Phantom and the centralized weight distribution hurts Stamina, though the warping does add some destabilization potential that the layer's weight and teeth can help offset, especially once paired with a Level Chip.
Verdict as the draft gives it: Emperor Forneus ranks below Spriggan Requiem for Defense use due to its recoil and poor Stamina, but is still considered a welcome collection piece.
- Twelve counter-clockwise blades, round low-recoil shape
- Super-Z Layer System construction with metal in the shark-head details
- Compatible with an underlying Level Chip to offset imbalance (Super-Z Layers)
Works with
- Works with an underlying Level Chip to correct the layer's inherent imbalance.
Related parts named in the draft: Nova Neptune, Psychic Phantom, Spriggan Requiem.
