About This Part

Stylized on packaging as αmaterios, Amaterios is a Takara Tomy Layer that reached Japan in August 2015 through the B-00α Rare Bey Get Battle Exclusive Booster Amaterios Aero Assault. The mould carries a face on one side standing in for its namesake, the Shinto sun goddess Amaterasu, set within an overall pentagonal, star-like outline. That five-point shape gives it strong burst and knock-out potential, tall teeth able to take the recoil it generates, and among single-layer parts of its era it carries above-average weight that further helps its burst resistance and attack output.

In Play

Community consensus still places it behind Valkyrie and Xcalibur for attack, since the obtuse angles of a pentagon shed less recoil than Valkyrie's triangle or Xcalibur's sword point; its teeth also wear down fast enough that players who favour it are advised to keep spares on hand. It has seen use in heavier-disc attack builds paired with fast tips, but it is now regarded mainly as a collector's piece.

The Competitive View

The orb points create blunt, powerful attack contact, but the shape gives it no use in Stamina or Defense. It performs well in Attack, just below Valkyrie and Xcalibur, and its shape is described as a near mirror of Wyvern, letting it beat Wyvern-based combos specifically. Cited combos: Amaterios Heavy Xtreme for maximum attack; Amaterios Heavy Assault for more stamina or to counter Tornado Stallers and other Attack types.

Verdict as the draft gives it: An excellent Attack alternative, ranked just under Valkyrie and Xcalibur.

  • Weight: 9.0 grams
  • Five-pointed star shape, red orb at each point, right-spin
  • Underside plastic appears two-toned but is actually a single piece finished with gold paint on visible exterior areas
  • Three tall inner-ring teeth, giving strong grip against Bursting

Works with

  • Paired with a Heavy disc and Xtreme or Assault tips.

Related parts named in the draft: Valkyrie, Xcalibur, Wyvern, Heavy, Xtreme, Assault.
