About This Part
Yard-S is a Defense-type Driver from Hasbro, built for the Burst System and the SlingShock System. It debuted in western countries inside the SlingShock Starter Pack, packaged with Emperor Forneus F4. Like its predecessors Orbit and Atomic, it uses a free-rotating ball tip inside a wide ring similar to Defense, and its SlingShock mode change lets it switch between "Battle Ring Mode" and "SlingShock Mode." Battle Ring Mode raises the ball's housing to accommodate the mode switch, which cuts down on how often the ring touches the stadium floor but also reduces the scrape risk that troubles Takara Tomy's original Yard, while SlingShock Mode retracts the ball on contact to reveal a wide flat tip that is aggressive but easily destabilized because of the added height.

The community rates Yard-S as an improvement on Takara Tomy's Yard in Battle Ring Mode, making it a solid Orbit substitute, though it still falls short of Atomic's life-after-death potential.
