About This Part
Xtend-S is a Balance-type Driver from Hasbro, built for the Burst System and the SlingShock System. It debuted in western countries inside the Rail Rush Battle Set, packaged with Z Achilles A4. Its manual height-change gimmick echoes Metal Fight Beyblade's Change Height 120 Spin Track, and it links that change to a mode switch between "Battle Ring Mode" and "SlingShock Mode." In Battle Ring Mode it presents a wide flat base with an enlarged centre point, similar in idea to Fusion but with a much bigger protrusion, keeping a straight launch centred while making off-balance movement even less reliable than on Takara Tomy's Xtend. SlingShock Mode extends and locks the tip into a wide hole-flat shape on a tall narrow base, producing aggressive but hard-to-bank movement that leaves the driver vulnerable to being knocked off balance.
In Play
Battle Ring Mode is the more successful of the two settings, and the community treats Xtend-S as a stamina fallback when Bearing, Orbit or Atomic are unavailable, but otherwise as a piece for a collection.
