About This Part

Variable' is the Dash Driver revision of Variable, made by Takara Tomy for the Burst System's Gatinko Layer System. It first appeared in Japan on August 11th and 12th, 2019 as a Tokyo Dome Stamp Rally prize, Grand Valkyrie Outer Variable' Ten, and later reached the west through Hasbro's Pro Series Starter Pack, Venom Devolos Outer Variable'. It keeps the same two-tier rubber spike tip as the original — six tall spikes over fourteen shorter ones, set at a normal driver height and meant to wear away so the driver speeds up rather than slows down over time — and adds a Dash Driver's stiffer spring lock for extra burst resistance.

In Play

Its stages play out the same way as the original: mild Blow-like motion when fresh, a fast and hard-to-steer stretch once down to fourteen spikes that the community rates as its best form, and an even faster but shakier run once worn to bare rubber, offset by strong life-after-death and destabilization potential from its lower worn height. It can fill the same slot in a Winning ValkyrieSieg Xcalibur attack build, though a worn copy is still tough to steer there. Set against Xtreme', Hold and Accel it falls short on control and stamina despite its speed, useful mainly for the odd knockout, and by the Dynamite Battle Layer era its worn-down height scrapes low-mode Forge Discs badly enough that it is kept mainly for the collection rather than for battle.
