About This Part
Ultimate Reboot is a driver from Takara Tomy's God Layer System that carries forward its predecessor Reboot's automatic tip-swap gimmick, pairing a round plastic tip similar to a shrunken Accel with a rubber tip similar to a rubber Zephyr. Early in a match, spin-driven centrifugal force pushes two spring-loaded tabs outward and extends the plastic tip, giving an only mildly aggressive pattern that struggles to reach the Tornado Ridge and, because of the tip's height, can destabilize easily. As spin slows, the tabs retract, swapping contact to the wider rubber tip in a bid to boost attack power late in a match — though by then low spin speed makes for weak hits, and the rubber contact costs stamina when it matters most. It debuted in Japan as a CoroCoro-exclusive in September 2017 before its wider release with the B-102 booster Twin Nemesis 3Hit Ultimate Reboot on January 27th, 2018, and reached the west through Hasbro's Pro Series Starter Pack pairing it with Judgement Joker.
In Play
Ultimate Reboot retracts sooner than Reboot for higher spin velocity, but Xtreme' matches its stamina while hitting harder earlier in a match, so the community rates Ultimate Reboot as an improvement over Reboot that is still outclassed overall, and its rubber tip costs it the Tornado-Stalling niche that Reboot held, leaving it mainly a collection piece.
- Debuted in Japan as a CoroCoro-exclusive release in September 2017.
- Released more broadly in Japan on January 27th, 2018 with the B-102 booster Twin Nemesis 3Hit Ultimate Reboot.
- Reached western countries through Hasbro's Pro Series Starter Pack pairing Judgement Joker with 0Glaive Ultimate Reboot Sen.
- Its CoroCoro-exclusive colourway matches its appearance in the anime on God Valkyrie 6Vortex Ultimate Reboot and Strike God Valkyrie 6Vortex Ultimate Reboot.
- It is the only driver built with a blue spring lock.
- Along with Bearing', it is one of only two drivers whose spring lock is neither the white used on standard drivers nor the red used on dash drivers.
The Competitive View
Early in a battle, centrifugal force pushes the tabs and round tip outward, but the small diameter gives only mild aggression and trouble reaching the Tornado Ridge, and the tip's height makes it easy to destabilize like Blow. Later, as spin slows, the tabs retract to expose the wider rubber tip for a late attack burst, but by then low spin velocity produces weak hits, and rubber contact costs stamina. Xtreme is judged to have greater speed in the same time frame with similar stamina and stronger early attacks.
Verdict as the draft gives it: A genuine improvement over Reboot for Attack, but outclassed overall by Xtreme; recommended for collection purposes only.
- Debut: CoroCoro Magazine Exclusive
- Automatic tip-change gimmick via spring-loaded tabs, likened to Final Drive from Metal Fight Beyblade
- Round tip smaller in diameter than Blow's; rubber tip described as a Zephyr/Xtreme blend
- Colorway: translucent blue
Related parts named in the draft: Reboot, Blow, Xtreme, Zephyr.
