About This Part

Sword is a wide, metal, six-pointed star-shaped tip released by Takara Tomy for the Cho-Z Layer System, combining traits of Iron, Assault, and Jaggy. Its broad metal surface drives an aggressive movement pattern at speeds near Assault's, though the rough edge, low metal friction, and wide diameter keep it from holding a banking line and leave its stamina weak despite the metal build. Two sword-like protrusions on its sides are meant to line up with the point on Xcalibur-line layers to add attack power, but the Burst System's height keeps them from making contact, so they mostly create a scrape risk instead. It debuted in Japan on August 11th, 2018 with the B-120 starter Buster Xcalibur 1' Sword.

In Play

Because it stands taller than most drivers, Sword loses further attack potential since most attack types benefit from sitting lower, and between the poor control, weak stamina, and scrape risk, the community treats it as a collection piece rather than a competitive choice.

The Competitive View

Its shape and surface area create Assault-level aggressive movement, but a rough perimeter, low metal-to-floor friction, and wide diameter make banking hard to hold and give poor stamina despite the metal build; the side protrusions never reach the opponent at Burst-system height and instead scrape the stadium floor, killing life-after-death, while its above-average height further hurts attack potential.

Verdict as the draft gives it: Rated for collection purposes only due to poor control, poor stamina, a severe scrape risk, and a height ill-suited for attack combinations.

  • Eight-pointed metal star tip
  • Two sword-shaped side protrusions
  • Taller than most performance tips
