About This Part

Reboot is a Driver that Takara Tomy released for the Burst System, and it doubles as a component of the God Layer System and the SwitchStrike System. It first appeared in Japan on March 18th, 2017 inside the B-73 Starter, God Valkyrie 6Vortex Reboot, and later reached western shelves through Hasbro's Star Storm Battle Set. The tip is moulded plastic and flat, built with a gimmick that swaps between two contact points as the bey spins: a narrow round nub reminiscent of a smaller Accel, and an eight-pointed star shape akin to an enlarged Jaggy. Centrifugal force pushes spring-loaded tabs outward early in a match to expose the round tip, then lets them retract later so the star tip takes over.

In Play

Community testers found the swap mechanism underwhelming: the round tip's small footprint struggles to reach the Tornado Ridge and leaves a combination prone to destabilizing, while the star tip's late arrival tends to produce weak hits rather than a genuine attack surge. Reboot sees some niche use in Tornado Staller setups because the switch keeps a bey off-centre longer, but slower speeds and below-average stamina leave it behind Accel and Zephyr, and early copies were also prone to sticking mid-transition; both the Takara Tomy and reprinted Hasbro versions are considered collection pieces rather than competitive tools, though Hasbro's faster-switching copy reduces the destabilizing risk and the sticking issue.

  • Released in Japan on March 18th, 2017 as part of the B-73 Starter, God Valkyrie 6Vortex Reboot.
  • Reached western markets through Hasbro's Star Storm Battle Set.
  • Reprinted by Hasbro in the Pro Series Ace Dragon Drake-P Reboot Zan Starter Pack using a lighter-weight plastic.

The Competitive View

The early round-tip stage gives only mild, hard-to-bank aggression, and the later star-tip stage arrives at low spin velocity so its intended late-battle burst of attack power mostly fails to land, though the tip-change timing can help Reboot stall against stationary opponents relying on weak launches.

Verdict as the draft gives it: Reboot's slower speed and below-average Stamina compared to other flat tips leave it outclassed by Accel and Zephyr for Attack/Stamina, and its 'sticky' mechanism further undercuts its niche Staller use; recommended for collection purposes only.

  • Debuted in B-73 Starter God Valkyrie 6Vortex Reboot, released March 18, 2017
  • Two-stage automatic tip: small round tip early, wide eight-pointed star tip late, via spring-loaded tabs
  • Takara Tomy releases: B-73 God Valkyrie 6Vortex Reboot (translucent blue); B-00 Premium Set (translucent purple)

Related parts named in the draft: Final Drive (Metal Fight Beyblade), Accel, Jaggy, Zephyr.
